Ideas for scrapbooking??
AL420, I'm looking at you......
I like the idea of scrapbooking but have never tried it. I'm worried that my effort might fall flat due to lack worthy scraps to book. But who knows, over the course of years and years I might actually accumulate some really great memories. I'm just not sure exactly where to start and where to look for scraps. |

I've considered keeping every movie ticket stub, concert stub, etc and posting them on a... one of them corky wall things.. but I always end up throwing them in the recycling.
God damn it.

If you're wanting to start saving things other than photos, you'll have to start thinking a bit like a hoarder. What might you want to reminisce about years from now? Most of the "scraps" I've saved over the years are things like concert tickets, flyers to events I attended or participated in, and clippings from newspapers and magazines where my work was featured. Just start saving things you might like to remember (a shoebox under the bed is a good way to store your scraps) and once you have enough stuff, get an empty book and arrange everything in a way that makes you happy.
Oh and start remembering to take photos of things. If you're having a particularly fun night with friends, whip out the camera and grab a quick picture. Chances are you'll be glad you have it later.

Another suggestion, and this is straying a bit from the idea of keeping "scraps" of your life, is to start a blog. It doesn't involve any actual pieces of paper or hard copies of photos, but that can be an upside too. I've been documenting the highlights of my life on my blog for about 3 years now, and already there are things that I probably wouldn't have remembered very well if I wouldn't have blogged about them. It requires a lot less clutter than storing boxes full of paper, and you get the added bonus of being able to share your life with people all over the world if you so choose. I've made some really great online friends through my blog, people who have sent me surprise wedding presents and other homemade goodies from places like Singapore and Australia. It's been so much fun, and I definitely advocate starting this up as a hobby if it sounds interesting to you.
