Alot of it depends on your age, and the disposition of the District Attorney in your area. I spoke with a San Diego DA, and their unwritten policy is not to prosecute sex with a minor unless the age difference is more than 5 years, or if the girl's parents really push it. This avoids the 18 year old guy going to prison for boinking his 17-1/2 year old girlfriend scenario. However, if you ARE 22, and she is only 16, it would probably be wise not to push it.

Look, I have seen both sides of the spectrum, on one extreme it has worked out very well with both the over aged doods and the (former) under aged girls. I've also (haven't seen I guess) heard of how a 21 yr old guy got 'accused' of sexually abusing a minor (16yr old) although he claimed it was consentual. He went to prison for 1 yr i believe?

fuck, basically you either play it 'safe' and play by the rules, or you take your chances. As long as both parties genuinly like eachther, I can honestly see no wrong in that. GL whatever anyone decides to do... society can go fuck themselves. think as if everything is black and white. so sad.

lol well I figured you wouldn't want me to actually list 10 laws that are more stupid. And I'm sure you know that I have first hand experience with relationships with older guys that wasn't quite legal. If both parties genuinely like each other then I completely agree with you. The problem is the fact that as an adult your able to manipulate some adolescents, and the laws are just trying to protect them. But I wholeheartedly agree with scatter on this one, you just have to talk to the parents and make sure they're cool with it.

For what it's worth I've been laughing about the Steven thing for months now.

Also yeah, way to go is to get in good with the fam. Friend of mine did some shit similar to the bearsy situation, not on some creepy old man shit, parents thought he was a bad dude which wasn't the case and it was a big disgusting debacle. Never charges or anything like that, but it was a big goddamn mess.

My daughter spent 2 weeks in jail for dating a guy who said he was 20. He was 16. She was 22. Her charge was interfering with parental control. It is a charge usually reserved for people who kidnap their own kid from their ex-spouse.
The boy kept running away from home. He had her name tattooed on his arm. It was a fucked up mess. The charges were all eventually dropped (lack of evidence), but she still spent 2 weeks locked up, because the parents of the boy couldn't control their kid.

On the other hand....

I work with a guy who said that, when he was 26 and his wife was 13, she walked up to him and said, "I'm gonna marry you someday". He said No Way. She pursued him for 3 years and finally at 16 (and 29), her parents said ok (and so did he). They married at 18 (and 31). They now have 2 sons, ages 10 and 12 and are happy as ever.

So yeah, who can tell.
