Imagine the typical suburban dweller on a Saturday afternoon. The television set in the living room is on, showing the latest Subway ad before the thousandth re-run of SVU comes back on. Sunlight streams through the open window in the kitchen. A rich vanilla aroma signals cookies in the oven. All of these things are real, concrete to the viewer. But are they, really?

To our minds, the information gathered by our senses defines reality. But is there a difference between real reality and perceived reality? Imagine for a moment the profound changes in perception we would have if our vision were broadened slightly to see into the UV and IR spectrums? Or if our hearing could somehow surpass the 15Hz - 20KHz range? Now consider if our sense of smell processed in the occipital lobe, or any other odd and fantastic configuration. To me, this really drives home how reality itself is based in perception.

It has been proposed, by mathematical and scientific minds far superior to my own, that there are another 6 or so spacial dimensions other than the 3 we move through and the dimension of time itself (Google string theory, M theory, quantum mechanics if confused). Should the essence of true reality not also include the unseen, the unperceived? But once again we are forced to recognize that the very act of perception alters and colors reality.

So, what is really real? Well, it's all a matter of how you look at it, isn't it. :D

I oppose the laughable concept that egoistic individualism can preserve a society. All economies must deal with the question of fair resource distribution through public channels of some type.

With that said, there has not been a more consistent individual representative on:

-Opposition to War, Military Industrial Complex, and Empire Building

- Opposition to torture and all related activities

- Opposition to NAFTA, CAFTA, and the World Finance and Trade Regime.

- Opposition to Corporate Welfare.

- Calling for an audit and end to the Federal Reserve System.

- Knowing the income tax was a historical war scam (Leftists in the 60s used to point this out, as has Cindy Sheehan).

- Legitimately believeing in the concept of States' Rights, irrespective of his policy disargeements with the 'Blue' States.

- Opposition to the Federal Drug War.

- Opposition to the banking 'de-regulation' scam that ended Glass-Stegall Separations on speculative and personal banking.

- Defending civil liberties and opposition to the National Security State before AND after 9/11.

- Calling for an end to the CIA and its 60 year reign of global and domestic clandestine terror.

- Actually being serious about the debt and the drain Empire first and foremost contributes to it.

- Understanding the well orchestrated coming capital flight from the US.
Until the Greens or some other person on whatever remains on the so called Left can find some balls, I'll root for the bizzare semi-reactionary over a corporatist fraud.

Day 1:

I arrived at the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport in Belize City. I went through customs without a hitch. First thing I noticed upon arrival in the country was the people’s accent. The stewardess got on the plane and said in a lovely Carribean Calypso accent “Welcome to Belize. We here at Continental Airlines thank you for your patronage today and we hope you enjoy your stay in our beautiful country.” Or something like that. This was almost 5 years ago, after all.

Anyways, I met up with the bus that was going to take me to The Banana Bank lodge in the capitol city of Belmopan. We got my baggage loaded up and set off for the 2 hour drive inland to the lodge. Now, its worth noting that Belize is HOT!!! Not like middle of the desert, feels like you’re in a frigging oven kind of heat. No, it was 90+ degrees outside and the humidity was 80% or more. It was kinda like being in a pot of boiling water and steam, but a little bit easier to breathe. I began to pour sweat instantly.

The rest of the day was quite uneventful. I got to The Banana Bank, unpacked my bags and got settled in. I took a walk around the lodge grounds to get a better feel for this beautiful place I found myself. The Banana Bank boasts quite the array of exotic creatures, stuff we Americans only get to see in zoos and on Tv. First and loudest was the parrots. They ha everything from a pair of African Greys to those classic multicolored parrots you see in any rainforest themed area. They had some gorgeous pale cream and yellow crested cockatoos that said a birdy “ Hello!” to anyone walking by. The list goes on and on, point is I had never seen so many colorful exotic birds in one place before. They had a jaguar in a cage near the dining area, but it slept most of the time and really wasn’t as interesting as one would assume a giant carnivorous cat would be. Cool looking though. Finally, there were the spider monkeys. They had two, Phestus and Chico. Chico was a bit of a star I have to admit. Anyone whos familiar with the popular MTV show Wildboys might recognize Chico from one of their episodes. Steve-O has Chico sitting on his shoulder, and he gives the classic disclaimer “No animals were harmed in the making of this television show.” And then Chico slaps him in the face! Classic Chico lol. The monkey also loved being fed, he would walk up to the limit of his chain (he was on the chain because he sometimes has a biting problem) and hold out his tiny hand for a piece of whatever you’re eating as you walk past. He was hard to say no to.

I had dinner with everyone else staying at The Banana Bank, then this pretty blonde from New York named Marieke (pronounced Marie-ka) took out her acoustic guitar and we all enjoyed a nice impromptu concert. The girl could play just about anything, I swear! After a few hours I wandered off to bed.

Days 2-7

For this time span, I spent most of my time exploring the country. I went to some amazing outdoor markets and had some of the freshest coconuts, plantains, papayas, mangos, and pineapples that I’ve ever tasted. I bought some crazy cool shirts and bootleg Bob Marley CD’s from a few stalls, and then I met Jorge. Jorge was a wood carver. He travelled into the Belizian rainforest almost daily to gather some of the rarest hardwood in the world. He only made his carvings out of the exquisitely dark grained Zeracote wood. The work he made was breath taking! He had carved sharks, carved hummingbirds, dolphins, monkeys, boats with masts and sails and rigging and what have you, he carved totems and Mayan gods even. I saw similar artistry in art shops all over Belize selling for $200USD a piece and more! I bought a 2ft long shark and a humming bird from him for $50USD. He told me that everything he made was worked with only 3 tools: His machete, his chisel, and sandpaper. I’ve yet to see higher quality artwork anywhere since.

I met soooo many amazing people during this period, it’s a shame that I can’t remember them all. One thing that struck me was, for a country so poor, the people seemed so happy! They were able to really enjoy the simple pleasures in life: Good food, beautiful weather, and great music/conversation.

Day 8-9:

I met a man named Ricardo earlier in the trip, and he told me of how he owned a string of small islands off the coast of Belize City and he also ran a scuba diving tour for anyone who was interested. As a newly certified diver, I was super excited to really get onto some reef as all my dive training was done in a water filled cave in New Mexico. During the past few days I had gotten to know Ms. Marieke a little bit better, and I invited her to come along and enjoy a few days out in the Carribean Sea with me (like the gentleman that I am, I payed her way too). She acquiesced and we caught another bus back to Belize City to meet up with Ricardo at the docks.

We got on his boat and took off into the BLUEST, CLEAREST ocean I had ever seen. You know those blue waters you see in some movies that you swear has to be photoshopped? No, its really that beautiful blue-green color, jewel-like in intensity. We got to Ricardo’s main island, the one he kept his cabins on. Island may be the wrong word for this site. It was essentially a very shallow area of the sea, low tide there was maybe a foot of water over the sands at the highest point. High tide and there was a decent 5-6 feet of water instead. There were mangrove trees on one side of the ‘Island’ and on the other side, Ricardo had built a series of raised docks that he put some cabins and a kitchen on top of. This is where we slept and rested when we weren’t in the water.

Now, for the diving! After me and Marieke got unpacked, we got all our dive gear together (which Ricardo rented to us for a nominal fee) and got back onto the boat to see what there was to see. The first reef Ricardo dropped us at was amazing. He stopped the boat in about 35, 40 feet of water, no land in sight. I was looking around for our dive site, and Ricardo told me we were right on top of it. I looked down and OH MY GOD!!! The water was clear as glass and I swear the reef heads looked like they were close enough to touch! Me and Marieke got into the water (Ricardo stayed in his boat at all times when we were diving) and began exploring. I had never seen so much color in one place before! There was delicate pink-purple fan coral, red brain and fire coral, soooo many hues of yellow and orange and green on every formation. And then there were the fish! Oh, too many to describe! Off the top I remember seeing large Queen Trigger fish with their all black bodies and metallic blue highlights (super cool looking fish!), I saw a few species of colorful Wrasse, I was a nurse shark and a sea skate, I saw jellyfish, too many colorful tropical fish to hope to name, and lastly I saw a Leatherback Sea Turtle. A rare enough sight indeed, to be sure!

During our dives we picked up as many large conch as we could find, and Ricardo got some nice fresh caught fish and shrimps too add to our conch. Marieke and I had the most amazing dinner of fresh sea food and gayo pinto (black beans and rice, a Belizian staple food) with a couple beers to finish it off. Yeah, drinking age in Belize is 18, woot! After the meal she played some guitar, I sang along when I knew the words and we made our way to bed. She really was a beautiful sweet girl lol. We had sex both in the cabin and out under the stars, and afterwards we laid on the dock, trying to count all the stars. We could see everything since there was essentially zero light pollution. It was breathtaking!

We woke up that next morning and had the typical strong Belizian coffee with raw sugar and sweetened milk, I can’t remember what we ate for breakfast so it must have been something pretty simple like oatmeal or similar. Oh, wait! I remember. Fresh fruit, like usual for that trip. We spent some more time out on the reef exploring and having the best time. Around 2, Ricardo boated us to this tiny white sand island where there was a little party kicking off. To paint the mental picture, imagine a perfect oval shaped island, the whitest fine grained sand covering it from shore to shore. On one end, there was some palm trees with hammocks tied to them, nice little shady rest area. On the other side was a stereo and the bar. I’m guessing the island was maybe 50 feet across and 30 feet wide, bit I can’t be too sure. On all sides and as far as the eye can see was that same gorgeous blue-green Caribbean sea. It was perfect, for lack of a stronger word. There was even some reef diving to be had if you swam just a little away from shore. Marieke and I joined the party, and interesting mix of tourists and young locals, all having a good time.

Day 10/ Final Day:

We stayed on that island that night, and in the morning Ricardo left and came back with our bags. The man was quite trustworthy, nothing was missing, not even cash or jewelry. He took us back to Belize City and I caught my plane back home. Marieke planned on staying for a few more days, so we said our goodbyes, exchanged numbers and addresses, and I left. I still talk to her now and again. Anyways, I got through Customs in Houston without a hitch (even though I brought back a baggie of sand and my wood carvings, which I think might have been frowned upon) but I left my stupid camera on the plane. They never found it, too bad because it was a waterproof camera and I got some amazing photos of the reefs and the fish.

So that’s my story! Such an amazing experience.

Populism is, at it's core, the belief that institutions should serve the people, not an economic or intellectual elite. All must and should cooperate, but we should not deny the competitive aspects of us that create innovation and advancement.

Populism believes that not all things should be for sale, particularly access to education, health insurance, and access to a minimum income.

Populism believes egalitarianism floursihes when lawmaking power is in the hands of the people directly. It therefore supports, to the greatest level of competency, keeping power close to the people with direct democratic mechanisms. Any neccesary representation must be restricted to issues of extreme expertise, and always subject to public recall.

Populism believes that productive property rightfully belongs to those who labor on it. It therefore stands for private, cooperative worker ownership pf the means of production in all industries except those of absolute public neccesity. It opposes the notion of 'intellectual property.'

Populism opposes the use of usury in the banking system and therefore calls for an end to a debt-based monetary system.

Populism seeks the end of the centralized state and the globalized economy.

Populism recognizes the fundamental rights of all as prescribed under the Bill of Rights, but also recognizes some need for local cultural autonomy.

Populism opposes offensive, costly warfare as odious and immoral.

Populism values the enviroment and scientific reasoning, while recognizing faith has an important place in making moral judgements.

Populism opposes all attacks on labor's productivity (including an income tax and barriers to worker organization or ownership).

Populism opposes inherited wealth on the grounds that inheritance creates idleness and corruption.

Populism believes the public need for information that is both informed and, to the greatest extent possible, unbiased, is a fundamental right that cannot be subject to the profit principle.

Populism believes soverignty, and the right to declare what constitutes citizenship in a nation, rests with the people.

Populism recognizes that issues like immigration and inequality cannot be addressed until the global economic playing field is fair. It therefore supports an end to corporate global trade and the creation of bilateral trade agreements.

Common sense is something that should be more than a watchword. It is our only hope.

The accepted use of marijuana as medical treatment has the potential to be one of the biggest setbacks in the legalization effort. Why is this? I'll try to explain.

Let us think back on a time when opium was a major drug for the masses. Man was beginning to realize that besides the potential for abuse, there was a potential of medical use for this plant byproduct. (Sound familiar so far?) Although opium latex could be smoked to achieve pain relief, medical research instead separated the latex into its constituent parts, found which compounds did what, and put them in pill form. However, heroin and opium remain very illegal.

I fear the same for marijuana. The medical profession regards the current ingestion methods of cannabis either too unhealthy or too unregulated. There isn't an exact dose of THC, CBD, etc in each bong hit. Potency also varies by strain and by growth factors. There's a potential for contamination by mold, bacteria, insects, and even fertilizers still in the plant matter.

What I see happening for cannabis is already taking place. As the pharmaceutical companies begin to understand cannabinoids better and their function for treatment, more products like Marinol and Sativex will be released. They will isolate, concentrate, and encapsulate the magic and freedom of cannabis into a pill, and our beloved plant will remain illegal.

The way I see it, the War on Drugs is perpetrated by money first. The cops get paid, the criminals get paid. All the efforts to legalize, to regulate, to end prohibition on the local and national level are all being undermined by the huge source of income known as Drug Prohibition. It practically prints its own money.

The government pays for enforcement of draconian drug laws. As a result, dealers and manufacturers raise prices. They make more money off their addict customers who can't stop using, and when the cops do raids, they take all the money and put it back into enforcement. Thus the cycle perpetrates itself. Not to mention the blatant corruption IN THE POLICE that has been spawned by the huge amount of drug and cash flow.

Now, the solution as it stands is to end prohibition, thereby eliminating the lucrative black market. But the Government profits from the War! Theres no way they will willingly end their money machine. No amount of lobbying, of state level efforts, no level of demonstration and democracy will be able to get the Government to let go of its fistfulls of drug money. Thus, the solution as it stands is a failure.

The road to legalization has been being walked since the 70's, and with little result. Whats to suggest a change in the trend? Instead of trying the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result, why don't we approach this in a different manner?

To end the War on Drugs, first you must end the motivation to wage the war. The motivation here being money. Now, to expect an addict to willingly quit his/her drug of choice is more foolish than to expect it to rain gold nuggets. How then to end the cash flow? Its very simple. The answer lies in high school level economics.

Saturate the market with high quality product. When theres way more product than the consumer can buy, prices drop as surplus builds. Now, in economics this would be a signal to stop production. Lets not do that, Lets continue to churn out massive amounts of high quality product as fast as we can.

Drown the War on Drugs in its own worst fears. When you grow or otherwise produce in bulk, its insanely cheap. For instance, I like to boast that with the cost of a quarter oz of weed, I could buy the stuff to grow 3-4 ounces of weed. And not just weed. Opium poppies are easy to grow, so we could flood the domestic heroin market. Some synthetics are stupefyingly easy to home synthesize, and even their precursors can be made without too much equipment and know how. Think of how easy meth is to produce. Just reading what Wiki has to say on mephedrone and methcathinone production hints at the ease, and the vast resources of the internet can fill in the gaps with only a little search and studying.

It can be done, if we are willing. If even a few substances (like the easiest o cheaply implement, weed and opium) were able to be removed from the market in this way, the rest would follow. America and the world should be shown the folly of prohibiting experiencing the mind. Its a failed War, and if we can make it stop paying, we can end it.

The easiest way to support this movement? Repost this blog. Then, grab some Papiver Somniferum seeds, some cannabis seeds, and your computer, and get to growing!

I use to live in the bible belt, and I heard sooooo many times that "mind altering substances are bad/immoral/etc" and the act of consuming drugs was inherently wrong. Well, I feel this isn't so. It cannot be so, humans and other animals are programmed to seek experiences which alter the consciousness. Small children like to spin in a circle because being dizzy is sensory alteration. Animals in the wild seek out entheogenic plants for reasons other than food or survival. Hell, my cat eats catnip and trips his balls off almost daily. Bees sip nectar from Poppies and datura flowers and become so intoxicated they can't even fly. The examples can go on and on.

When people go sky diving, or bungee jumping, or any other number of extreme sports, they're releasing chemicals into their brain that are also released when someone does, say, a line of cocaine. Sex and eating release dopamine. Sneezing even has a feel good chemical or two with it. Hell, the body produces DMT, kind of like that "final high". So how is doing drugs wrong?

This IS NOT justification for my lifestyle of drug abuse, but I do think it advocates responsible, moderate usage from time to time. Why does the governments and those in power seem so set AGAINST things that make people feel good? Sex is demonized, drugs are prohibited, as was alcohol. Freedom is increasingly downtrodden. For what? Thats one question I have no answer to.

Thanks for reading another rant of mine, hope someone gets something out of these.

Despite quite different levels of living (thought decreasing in difference), people in the Middle East and the Midwest are asserting rights to a share of their government from the corrupt Corporate-Empire in DC.
The tactics are remarkably similar too-non violent occupation and resistance against corporate-backed thug movement (the Koch Party) and other hired thugs and crooks (Egyptian Gestapo), as well as the implied or explicit approval of the police apparatus, itself privatized and assaulted by the assassination attempts on unions, who now decides where its loyalty ought lie.
At the same time on the Old Right/Genuine libertarian front, Ron Paul looks to be running for president again. His state's rights, anti-war, anti-bailout, anti-bank, anti-drug PATRIOT Act, and anti-subsidy stances are playing to tired political non-archists and radicals across the spectrum. The lines are no longer left and right, but the centralized state and Global Feudalism vs. the free and small federation on the other.

Which side will you be on?

In my utopia, people have finally realized that it is the urges of greed and rage caused society's biggest issues. In my Utopia, technology will serve only the purpose of helping provide for human sustenance and betterment of the world as a whole. No weapons, no media entertainment, no Big Pharma, none of the unnecessary bullshit. Over farming would cease as surplus would become unnecessary. Food shortage and starvation would be no more as we would use green technologies to transport supplies to regions with famine or drought. Overpopulation would reverse over time as single child families would become the mandated norm. Medicine would be practiced holistically, free of charge, and medications with negative side effects would be denied approval for sale. The laws would focus on prosecuting violent offenders, and the right to experience altered states of consciousness would be a natural born right and allowed within the law. The government would be the will of the people, and would be handled on a local level. The monetary system would be disbanded, and what little trade remained would be handled via the barter system.

Now that we have the base society outlined, I'm going to list some perks that I feel would make it a true Utopia.

Note: Because of the healthy, active lifestyle that my Utopia engenders, there are no fat chicks in my world.
Women between the ages of 18-35 will go topless.:D At all times unless weather prohibits. Jobs will consist of growing food an maintaining your home. There will be Government sponsored Cannabis Farms, where they grow weed to supply it to the people for free. As a service, see? To reduce stress and improve quality of life. :bigjoint: Homes and other buildings would be constructed of all the plastics that are sitting in today's landfills. New buildings wouldn't be built afterwards since a plastic building would outlast humanity. If for some reason a building needed to be torn down, or one needed to be made, well we would just melt down an existing structure and recast it. Genetic screening would become commonplace so that children with mental handicaps or physical limitations wouldn't be born, and any defect that could be treated using emerging (and hopefully in my Utopia's time it's been developed further) genetic medicine would be treated, free of charge of course. The power used in daily life would be a result of green, sustainable technologies such as wind farms and tidal generators. Fossil fuels would be outlawed and all means of transport would have to be zero emissions. Only water vapor or O2 are acceptable exhaust. All religious elements effecting current laws would be removed and replaced with logic and common sense. And finally, there would be a special game preserve where avid hunters and sportsmen could go and hunt Zombies. Because Zombie hunting is a win.;)

Be careful with Detox products

There are many products out there sold on other websites that are colon cleansers. That is not what you need if you are trying to Detox from specific toxins i.e. street drugs or from a night of partying or regular every day usage.

For example most Detox Sites are made along the lines of “Dietary Supplements” even though you can go to the site and purchase a urine cleanser to pass a urine test. There are many reasons behind this. One is to ensure the customer has some kind of privacy to what it is they order.

The new trend for Detox Manufacturers is a chemical called Fibersol-2. This is a beneficiary source of Fiber but they are loading it into detox drinks and products to make up a compound they think will be beneficial. When in the end it is only going to make you use the bathroom for all the wrong reasons.

Detox drinks have tons of different chemicals in them. Most of them are like your average Gatorade or Vitamin Water. You have your typically added color and what not. The only thing you have to be careful about is the other ingredients like Psyllium Seed, Echinacea, daffodil, uva-ursi, to name a few.

These products can and typically do have adverse effects on the body such as Diarrhea, Sedation, and GI upset.

've been saying it for a long time now, people are the problem. Allow me to explain further.

When you look at nature and the balance of things, it all works just fine. Sure, there is conflicts and lives are taken. However, this is the way of life and nothing can change that. This is not "The Problem" I speak of. The problem is bigger. The Problem is the health of the planet for one. No, I'm not gonna go all tree-hugger and hippy or anything. However, we have done some pretty nasty damage. Nuclear waste is a good one. Damming major rivers and harming wildlife is another. The list goes on, I'm sure you get the idea.

People kill each other, seemingly indiscriminately and without reason much of the time. We wage war over things that don't really matter. We invent greater and greater engines of destruction to the point where there is enough accumulated nuclear firepower to destroy our planet.

Human beings bring upon one another horrors that surpass even the fear of death. We as a species literally force other humans into living conditions too terrible for words. Think of Nazi camps. Think of the native americans and the Trail of Tears. Think of slavery, of Rwanda, of Guantanamo.

There is a huge divide of class separation based on wealth and power. People are forever stuck in a socio-economic rut, subject to the wills of governments and the vast number of inhumane affronts perpetrated by these groups.

This is The Problem. There are facets of society and civility that attempt to corral people from their seemingly intrinsic nature for self destruction, but as history and modern occurances alike show, it is a vain effort. The obvious solution is also one that is likely to not happen any time soon, so I will leave this as a rant alone.

Thanks for reading, sorry about the Wall of text but I felt it was necessary

I did most of my growing up/musical discovery in the 90s. I really don't like anything pre-90s, but some new stuff is just fine. My favorites in music, most of them anyways, are all 90s era music. The whole grunge thing, rappers like Eminem came out, the Chili Peppers came into mainstream, punk rock was pretty big, all that good shit. The whole rock genre itself was just out of this world, quickly recovering from the complex poison they called music from the 80s. Who let hair music come into existence anyways? The fuck they call that shit hard rock for? Some people need to be shot, for real.

Now, I need at least one opinion (musical) from someone from a different era, or from someone who likes music mostly from a time different than that of the "growing up" phase.

DISCLAIMER: This is 100%, biased personal opinion. Don't expect facts, graphs, any kind of anything to lend credibility. Its just me folks.

I've been taking a class, Philosophy of Aesthetics. great class, really opened my mind to other cultures that I otherwise had no ability to understand. We have studied the San of Africa, The Australian Aborigines, and the Inuit to name a few. Something that I've come to realize is, even though we are so different from these indigenous cultures in most every way, we have art in common. In studying these peoples, I have gained an understanding of them as human beings through their differing views on aesthetic philosophy.

These cultures, they can understand art as a way to enhance and beautify existence. They have beautiful music which seems to sing to the primordial self, and deeply ingrained rituals in which even in modern art, we can still see the vestiges of. They see art, on some levels at least, to be a gateway to the spiritual self, as a way to let the supernatural touch reality. They also display their innate human understanding and intellect. For instance, the Aborigines have made paintings of animals in a sort of an "x ray" fashion where the internal organs and major bones are clearly and accurately rendered. The Inuit people have drawn maps for explorers showing geological features stretching for thousands of miles, and extremely accurately too.

I've heard tell that math may be considered the universal Language, but for these people, who have little concept of mathematics, this appears to not be true. I propose art to be the true universal language. Accessible to all, understood by all, and an attainable skill for all. Thanks for reading my rant.:D
