Well, the way I've been doing it is by simmering leaf and harvest trimmings in water and butter for about 2 hours on a very low simmer. You dont want to bring it to a complete boil because the butter will infuse with the leaf and you'll end up with alot less butter at the end. I use about 4 ounces of trimmings for a pound of butter. You want to simmer it with water because THC is not water solluble, and it all goes into the butter, while the water seperates the chlorophyl, (the green, untasty stuff) Then strain the leaf out, pour hot water through the strained leaf to get any residue that might have saturated in the leaf, and put the water/butter mix in the fridge over night. By the next morning, the canibutter has solidified and seperated from the nasty water. Trust me, you dont want anything to do with the water or strained leaf. There is absolutly no THC in it. So just pour it out. And there's your butter to cook with what ever you want to make. Just follow whatever recipie that calls for butter. This ratio of trimmings to butter has made some VERY potent butter. I've used 1/4 cup (or 1 stick) of butter in some penut butter cookies that just made me stupid high. Im a daily smoker, and I couldn't function in public on these!

i want to start cooking with weed but every bag i get gets smoked. is there a way to skip the extraction process of the thc from the bud for weed butter. Could i use the thc collected from my herb grinder?? maybe just boil it in with the butter? i grind about a half oz a week of great thc covered BC bud.

I dont recomend using bud to cook with unless its low grade, unsellable. Smoke your bud! If you want to cook with it, get your hands on some harvest trimmings if you can, and use that. You can use the keef from your grinder if you want, but I would rather smoke that too. If your gonna use keef, you dont really need to boil it long with the butter. As long as the THC reaches 180 degrees, it will work with baking. You probly dont even need to mix it with butter, just add it to whatever your baking. It must reach 180 degrees to get you high though. There's a reaction when it gets to that temp that is nessisary for consumption. Let me know how it turns out. Have fun!

Yes... it is alot. And yes, I do it in a stock pot. It makes hella potent butter! I usualy end up adding butter to the cannibutter to take it down a notch. The reason I make it like that is because each batch of butter I make turns out different, so I make my first batch realy strong, so I can tone it down after I know how potent it turns out. That way I can control and keep my baked goods pretty much the same every time I make a batch. I would rather have a batch of over potent cannibutter that I have to add butter to than a batch of butter that isn't potent enouph.

although i guess 4oz trimmings isn't that much, I could only assume that the trimmings add less potency to the butter than actual buds or kief would.
that was a really awkward sentence, i hope you can understand what i'm saying lol
