Water curing trim for cooking

I used to think I liked the "green flavor" in cannabis edibles, that was until I started making my own..
I prefer to make a more concentrated product for cooking/baking, so my first few batches of butter and cookies, well they were gaggingly strong with that green flavor. I tend to make a super strong product (2-3 oz of trim to each cup of butter), even more with my coconut oil. So, I did some research, looked into water-curing or soaking and rinsing my cannabis, before making my butter/oil. I found this to almost eliminate that nasty green flavor!
It takes me about 2-3 days to get the water to run clear. You would be surprised at the amount of filth that is on that trim, once you see it rinsed clean.
Anyone else water cure?
I've actually read about people doing this to their buds, for smoking. Now that green flavor I wouldn't want to rinse away!

The water doesn't flush off any of the THC on the leaf?

filter it through a coffee filter or something and it shouldnt really matter if the water washes any thc with it or not.

thc isnt soluble in water so it should get caught in the filter along with the other stuff you want no problem id say.

if you are already doing half an extraction why not just go all out and get a pure thc extract?

Can you cook with butane made hash oil?

Edit: derp roach's post

You steep the weed in water for a day and drain the water off and repeat maybe 7 times- rather than hosing it down or something.

Much less efficient.

Almost zero waste with water curing.

Especially if you're making edibles.

I think calling it "water curing" is a misnomer.

I think budder made with a high quality butane is less waste, and thats probably why dispenseries do it.

I like this vid tho.

your allways gonna have some sort of strong taste the idea is to blend it or mask it with coffee and such using trim takes alot more to make it stronger the more plant material and thats what causes the nasty flavor if you use hash its allready condesed down even bud would be better

Right, I knew about the non-water solubleness of THC, but was curious what 'caught' the crystals that no doubt were shaken off or fell off in the process.

The filter is a good idea.

Right, I get that... I was just thinking, if you can knock off the THC crystals with your hands or via keifing then the water, soaked or sprayed would have that same 'knocking off' effect.....

Is the filter catching it the point like Fender says or is there still enough THC goodness left... I mean, obviously it is caught/used somehow or we'd just be making green butter.

If you make bubble hash you deliberately use ice cold water so the thc crystallises and falls off.

With a water cure the water will be around room temperature so this won't happen. No filter needed.

The water cure I am referring to, is for coconut oil or butter extraction. Oils for cooking not smoking. I'm quite aware of the difference between making cold water, and what I'm doing. My product is not for smoking, so flavor is extremely important. Especially when you're dealing with a patient who is already nauseated, the taste of green nasties is the last thing they'd want.
I lose no potentcy when soaking in water... None

Cool... so you ARE doing something more like FG is implying.

I knew you didn't mean smoking... but I know the crystals are still an important part of cooking as well since there is a lot of punch there
