shortbread cookie report
this cookie recipe was inspired by our own dear MacGyver(BB) http://www.yahooka.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39269
and our own beloved Hedons http://www.yahooka.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62263 what i had: i had a bunch of fresh crappy little underneath buds that were too much trouble to trim, some small crystally leaf trimmings, and some small reject side-branch buds that were still pretty leafy, all of it fresh and wet. i added about 2 tablespoons of shake from the previous harvest. really hard to judge how much weed it was becuz it was all wet. it looked like a shitload more than me and my crew would ever smoke in 1 session. what i did: i got this idea from Hedonses Decarboxylation thread (above). i turned on my toaster oven and het it up to about 425 degrees. then i turned it off. i took maybe a minute to arrange the bud on the little toaster oven tray and snip the bigger peices, then i put the tray into the still pretty hot toaster oven. in a few minutes i could smell a toasty weed smell, and everything on the tray was crispy crunchy dry but not brown. i took all that and ground it in the coffee grinder to a very fine powder, it was very quick. i put it into a 1/4 cup measure, and when i packed it down hard with a spoon it just came to the halfway mark and formed into a pretty solid disk. i broke it up into the flour and sifted em together, worked great. the cookies i made: becuz i did not have everything to make MacGyver's Chocolate Shortbread Cookies, this is what i did instead. 1/2 C unsalted butter, softened 1/4C packed brown sugar 1/2 t vanilla extract 1C plus 2T all purpose flour 1/4t nutmeg ground 1/4t ginger ground 1/4t cinnimon ground 1/4t salt tiny pinch (1/8t) baking soda 1/8C packed decarboxylated ground weed my method: cream butter and sugar together well, add vanilla. sift dry ingriedents together (sifting really makes a difference), combine flour mix with butter/sugar mix. knead just a little bit on lightly floured board and wrap tightly in plastic and let rest in the fridge 15-20 mins (longer would probly be better but meh). note: i dont kno if the baking soda is necessary but i put some in to controll the acid of the brown sugar. portioning: i rolled it out between 1/4 and 1/2 inch thick between 2 sheets of saran wrap and cut out cookies with a soup can(both ends open) and i got exactly 9 circles. they looked so big and thick i scored each one with the back of a knife right across the middle so they could be broken in half easily, like a giant aspirin tab. i also poked some decorative holes with a toothpick. baking: i baked em on ungreased cookie sheet in a preheated oven somewhere between 325 and 350 degrees (i think) untill they had set and were just beginning to get golden brown, possibly 15 minutes or so but i didnt time it and its impossible to be sure. they puffed up and spread out a little, so put them about an inch apart. results: its a tasty crunchy crumbly cookie with a very obvious weed flavor that combines well with the nutmeg ginger and cinnimon, i might increase those from 1/4 t to a half a teaspoon to get more of a spice melange flavor. 3 of us each ate a half a cookie then had some mon-star bong hits. i couldnt really tell when it started to kick in but later on playing baloon-bop with the three year old was more hilarious fun than a barrel of ted nugents. i ate a half a cookie this morning with coffee at about 10 o'clock i started writing this recipe at noon. all i can say is woah, man!
