The Saliva Test: What to do to pass

Theres a huge lack of information about this, I've seen the same paragraph about the swab test posted on countless sites and every other search results in a product pitch...

I was all ready with my quick fix 4.0 synthetic urine and all of a sudden I am being asked to swab my mouth. I didn't know what to do so I just pretended to saturate it and gave it in. It was submitted and I was asked to take another because it didn't read. It took 18 minutes so I told them I would come in the next day for another.. (I just said I had to pick someone up)

My stats:
6'0''
160 lbs
fast metabolism
Smoke chronic twice a day, every day (sometimes more)

What I did to pass:
From what I understand the saliva test is not ideal for marijuana testing. It can detect for up to a few days depending on the person.

-I've heard you can pass if you abstain for 14 hours, but I did 24 to be safer
-appointment was at 2:00 so I got up at 10:00 and started to drink water.
-over a few hours I drank about 3 or 4 refills of a 16 ounce water bottle until I was basically pissing water.
-Brushed my teeth once in the morning and once before the test
-Brought mouthwash with me in the car and swished it for about 60 seconds
-I walked in, swabbed and got the pass

-Some of what I did may be a result of misinformation, however the provided info is so minimal that I just went off of hearsay and forum posts. I had just dropped 33 bucks for synthetic urine and I did not want to pay another 49$ plus 30$ next day shipping for some bogus detox mouthwash. Plus I figured that they were a rip off anyways just like the drinks. If you do call your local pipe shop for the stuff, you have to basically avoid saying anything about trying to pass a saliva test or they might give you the "That's 100% illegal" speech I got from a Freekies in Boulder,Co.

These saliva tests are becoming more prevalent, if you have any further information please post for further info seekers..

Hopes this helps someone

I've been out of the drug testing loop for a few years now...so unless the nature of the saliva test has changed, I always thought that a saliva test was similar to a blood test in that it indicated present intoxication rather than past use. Past use shows in a urine or hair tests.

Does anyone know anything to the contrary?

Why is this test being administered? Pre-employment, suspicion of drug use, accident investigation, etc?

Here is what I found...

Saliva Tests

* Are a little more expensive than urine testing, but less than hair or blood. (~$15-$75).
* Are considered a relatively unintrusive method of drug testing.
* Are becoming more common.
* Are easy to administer but require lab processing to ensure accuracy.
* Detect use primarily within the past few days.
* Can detect more recent use than other testing methods.
* Have no nationally accepted standards or cutoff concentrations for detection, making results greatly dependent on the specific product purchased. This could also make results less-reliable and/or acceptable for legal cases.
* More reliable for detection of Methamphetamine and Opiates, less reliable for THC or Cannabinoids (2004).

I've been told abstaining for like 12 hours does the trick, can't vouche fer that though.

Saliva tests are utilized by privately-owned and smaller business as opposed to commercial entities and Fortune 500 companies. Theoretically I think that state laws require some sort of drug testing for certain companies on certain amounts of budgets.

Saliva tests are conducted to test current or recent users as opposed to distant users that are targeted by urine and hair follicle tests. They are extremely easy to pass or cause false positives. I've heard of people smoking the day of and mouth-washing using some sort of antiseptic such as Listerine.

But it's universally known and logical to abstain as soon as you are acknowledged of a drug screen, or I would hope at least. And there shouldn't be any reason for someone to fail a saliva test.

easiest way to clean your mouth for a saliva test is to brush your teeth, gums and tongue with a diluted mixture of hydrogen peroxide. say 50/50 if using the store bought 3% H202.

then use the same diluted mixture as a mouth wash.
