I have recently been put on probation for my first DUI. I had my find drug test and was surprised to be drug tested by a swab test. I was wondering about the sensitivity of these new swab test. They are swabbed on your cheeks and under your tongue and get results in around 5 mins. Are there any secrets to these test that a smoker should know? Are they as accurate as a urine test? And does the mouthwash that i have seen advertised work? Please help, i don't want to quit for 18 months.

swab tests will test up to 2 days i believe of smoking, but there are ways of shortening it; i recall there being at least a dozen threads if you search.

Do a search in the drug testing forum for swab test. I've personally passed a swab test that was sent to a lab only 36 hours after last smoking.

Prophet Saddam is right in the sense that it will show up to 36 hours; could be even up to 72 hours depending on your metabolism.

FYI: These types tests are very UNRELIABLE! I used to work at a temp agency in which we gave applicants on-site swab drug tests in which it collected their saliva. I know that some people posted a positive test when they had never touched drugs in their life (as they ended up disputing the results and had a drug test conducted by a professional agency which resulted in a negative result on a 10 panel test UA); and vice versa; people who smoked that told me they were not going to pass b/c they just smoked weed that morning ended up passing in panels.

Very unreliable form of testing; but also the cheapest way of testing for drugs. It is supposed to "mimick" what your blood would show, thus "mimicking" a blood test-only the swab method is very, very unreliable.

I would definetly appeal any negative result and get a UA done by an alt agency (you can always rig those piss tests a million diff ways); once you pass this test go back and provide proof of negative test. This to be done if you don't pass the swab test.

Considering you're on probation, I would play it very safe for right now. What type of testing will you receive? Random or just the possibility whenever you meet your PO?
