parole and drug testing

long time yahookan but havent posted in a while. anyways,, so my cousin is locked up right now.. gettin out in 7 months and when he does i'm havin him move in with me. He'll be on parole and im a avid smoker, just as he was/is.. so here is my question. whats the deal with drug testing when your on parole.. im guessing its constant and he wont beable to blaze.. i dont wanna tempt him to smoke by always having it around and he is family so im willing to not smoke in the house, but ive been writing to him and he is interested to hear any input on what parole is like and what the drug testing taht goes along with it is like. i'm kinda afraid he is gonna get out and wanna blaze, then get tested and get sent right back..any input is appreciated guys.. thanks

i think drug testing is once a month.

and i think that a physically active dude can smoke once and it'll be out of his system in about 2weeks.

here in kentucky, if drugs had anything to do with why you were locked up in the first place, then you will be drug tested at least once a month (random) at first. If drugs were not a factor at all, you might never get drug tested.

If his PO suspects him at all, he will be taking drug tests weekly. They can come to your (his) house, and they do, to see what he's doing, who he lives with, what his house looks like, etc. They can, and do, show up any time day or night. Remember, PO's are cops.

Now you, do not have to open the door to them. He does however. It is part of his parole agreement. You, do not have to let them in when he is not home. That would look bad on him though. They are not supposed to be allowed to look in your room, but since when do cops obey the rules?

I would not risk it myself (I smoked on probation, pissed dirty, and got 6 more months of supervised). I would tell him not to smoke until he becomes "invisible" to the PO. What I mean is: I think PO's are very busy and overworked. They deal with all the criminals. The perverts, rapists, murderers and the like. If he is "good", does what the PO says, he will become a "non-trouble maker" in the PO's mind. That makes him as invisible as he can get. My PO's pet peeve was that she wanted all the paperwork filled out before you got to her desk. It was faster for her. I always had my paperwork done, in a nice little stack. I was in and out in 5 mins. or less (except the time I peed dirty).

One dirty pee most likely would not get him sent back, but it will prolong the agony.
I do not trust people who say, "go ahead and smoke", they are not the ones having to spend their time behind bars. I don't trust piss cleaners. I don't like being the one that it didn't work for.

My advice is to suck it up and do what it takes. PO's are people. And they are not fair. If your PO is a woman, and you have girlie pictures on your wall, she may be offended. Not illegal, not fair, but enough to keep you from being invisible. Same for a black PO, and a confederate flag. Or your PO might not like the sag and bag look. Whatever it is, don't do it until you are free.

You should be applauded for doing this for your cousin.

Good luck to you both.

It can be as many times a month as they want you to go.
Here's a scenario: Probation Officer tests him in the office, he has "hot" sample, they test him 3 times a month randomly.

That's what happened to me, and even though I was clean for the next three months, I still had to do it for 5 months... Ridiculous.

What he should do, is anything possible to pass the first Probation test.

Play it safe. Don't mess around on parole. Take the class required do all the bs they want. I remember a kid in highschool who was on parole for at least 3 yrs. Some stupid offence but would always manage to get in a fight or fail a drug test before getting off. Doing everything right might be tough but its worth it. Get your cousins freedom back. Being out of prison and still on parole isn't true freedom.
