To actively discourage drug abuse in workplaces the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) has made alcohol testing mandatory for personnel who perform safety sensitive duties across all modes of transportation - on roads, rails, water, in the air, over land and underground.
The DOT regulations insist upon safety-conscious employees at all times and under all circumstances and has implemented various drug test programs including urine drug test, alcohol test, as well as employee drug testing, random drug testing, pre-employment drug testing, follow up drug testing, return to duty drug testing and lots more.
The DOT through its rules and regulations has worked hard to reduce the number of accidents and crashes directly related to drug and alcohol use.
