retest at quest labs - job screening

Ok here's the situation -

I am 35, 225-230 lbs, 5'11, male. Exercise 2-4 times a week. Drink plenty of fluids and eat pretty well.

Smoking history - Overall I am not a frequent smoker. Starting in Feb, I smoked 2-3 times a week, then by the end of March I had stopped. Since the end of March I was on the job hunt again and abstaining. Only once since I stopped did I get anywhere near the herb. I was D/Driver for two friends that lit up in the car when I was driving - this is over 2 weeks ago -

This past Friday - day 14 from the last time I even smelled the herb, I had a pre-employment drug screening at Quest Labs. The test was not observed. I started the job on Monday -

Yesterday I got a call saying I had popped on the test for marijuana. I was stunned. I demanded a retest. Because I cannot take any chances with losing this job, I ordered powdered human urine from TestClear.com.

Tomorrow - Thursday - I have to retest. The powdered urine should be here by 10:30 a.m.- I was planning on swinging by my place to pick up and do my prep and crotch the sub - then drive over to the lab for the test.

I am concerned with the possibility that they will observe a retest, but I have read that they can't observe any job screening test, retest or not. There's so much conflicting info on the net, I would like to put my self at ease... Does anyone know if they can observe me on a retest?

i'm in NJ and I can't find anything that says they can, just that they can only observe court ordered tests or probation tests... This is just a job screening... I don't know HOW I failed... I'm astonished... I think the only true chance I have of KNOWING they got absolutely CLEAN urine is to use this powdered pee. I cannot risk getting flagged for diluting -

Any ideas of if they will watch me give a sample? I don't think they can, just want someone elses opinion.

I assume that this is a non-DOT (not federally regulated) test.

I don’t know about New Jersey, but generally collection by direct observation would be permitted for a re-collected sample.

Your positive test is surprising. I guess some combination of high potency cannabis and concentrated urine.

I’m also surprised you are being allowed to retest.

If the test is observed, I don’t see a dilute-negative as a problem. You could go in being prepared for either substitution or dilution. Be aware that if they perform an observed test properly, you will have to lower your pants before giving the sample.

well in this state now they say legally all they can test back to is like 14,15 days at the most,good luck hope u pass it!

Its for a bank so non DOT -

I think I may have been dehydrated when I took the test this past Friday -

They are allowing me to take the test because 1. I was genuinely shocked and should have passed and kinda pushed immediately for a retest and 2. they really want to hire me and i think they're giving me the benefit of the doubt...

So if I prep to handle either, instead of hiding the sub in my boxer briefs I guess I should tuck it in my sock.. I'll be wearing brown boots that are up to my shin so they wont pat me down - they didn't last time either... they just have a box to stick the contents of your pockets in and lock it, you keep the key... its really an open place, they have no means of gowns or anything to make me strip so I'm thinking since there's like one or two single person bathrooms there that i'm not going to be watched, but in the event that I am, I'll keep it in my sock and be prepared to p w/ my diluted p... i don't eat red meat so I'm worried I'll fail for dilute because of creatinin... Do they test that on site or in the lab if they think they have to? Losing this Job is not an option for me because I've been out of work over a year, and this is the first Job that meets my salary needs and gives me a chance to get my finances back on track... this draconian bull about drug testing is really sick...

Any other helpful hints to keep my heart from blowing up from anxiety?

Yes. I'm sure you are aware that they will measure the temperature of the urine by using a heat sensitive strip on the side of the specimen container. The temp has to be over 90 and less than 100.

Creatinine is checked at the main lab (not at the collection site).

I've got the powdered urine sample waiting at my place to prep and heat so I can swing home before hitting the lab.

I've taken a couple multi vitamins and had water and gatorade to keep the specific gravity and color of my diluted piss.

I kinda wish id have had more practice w the powdered urine and getting it to the 91-99 degree safety range. Also on the smuggling bit.

You guys are not going to believe it -

I took my test today - went through the standard protocal. BeforeI took the test I went to a local pool store and brought my test vial for checking PH and such
I threw the vile in my cargo pocket, of course my sub was safely tucked
in w/ the boys... I emptied my pockets and she didn't observe me - I locked everything,
including the vile for my pool water which was empty...

This was unobserved, I could have put an ounce of weed in the box if I wanted...
Needless to say I took the test, it was all within range and good.

I tucked my sub carrier back in my crotch and walked out. Got my money,wallet and keys out of the lock box, including my PH test vile, which I put in my cargo pocket.

I was signing the paperwork and hit my cargo pocket on the table and out passes my clear PH test vile (ive had it for years and every saturday I go to a pool store and get it checked. I picked it up and she looked at it and asked if there was urine in it, I was a bit shocked I said no way... she said OK. Then she said She said she'd have to tell my employer that someting fell out of my pocket... She never observed me putting my stuff in the locker or getting it out, if she had, it'd have been in there while I was taking my test...

I said OK its just water for my pool...

I shot off an email to my employer detailing the situation, the rude and unprofesional way this was handled, explained their lack of inventory and how I would not stand for the shoddy practice...

is there ANY way they'll fire me now???
