Hey, I'm new here, thanks for the info.

Job announced last week they were starting randoms. Suprised me because it is a non-profit social service agency, pretty small, not a lot of $.

I don't smoke much, maybe once every couple of weeks, the last being 1 wk. ago right before I found out about randoms. One hit Northern Lights.

180 lbs., 5'8" beer gut, skinny otherwise. I walk a lot. Started with 60 oz. water per day and B complex, added creatine a few days later. Then cut down the water after 3 days and started drinking 24 oz. vitamin water and two bottles of water per day.

Tested clean on home test today with no dilution other than two cups of coffee, 1 bottle of water and 1 vitamin water. Once the home test is OK, with no dilution, should I be OK for the randoms? Just curious.

Looks like my smoking days are suspended until I find a new gig. You guys have fun tokin'.

never give the first pee of the day, so always try and piss a few times early in the day, which is healthy anyway so dont think of it as a slight, and always let the stream hit the water before you stick the cup in it as most of what they would detect would have settled to the bottom of your bladder and thats what comes out first, so by eliminating that it helps to minimize the thc that might be lingering after that hydrofest you put your body through.

Yeah, when I did the home test it was midstream. I'm fairly hydrated all the time. I forgot to mention that I have been drinking a double bag cup of Yogi detox tea every night since last week. I am just uptight about passing the real UA, which I think might come sonner than later.

I shot an email off to the HR person questioning the reason for the policy that I should have sat on for 24 hrs., big mistake. They already kind of have me pegged for a deadhead. So I'm sure it will be soon. Sucks.

Somebody said I should switch to doing spice. Anybody know anything about that? They said I wouldn't be able to tell the difference in buzz given how much and how often I smoke and that it doesn't show up on a UA. Does it increase THC detection time?

I havent tried spice, but ive herd nothing good about it at all. Dont waste your money.

Dont assume because you questioned the policy they assume you are a drug user, random drug testing is a violation of privacy and is just plain stupid even to non-drug users.

Those who claim they have nothing to hide would be shuned by my Ben Franklin who once said, "Sell not virtue to purchase wealth, nor Liberty to purchase power."

Which loosley translates into "Those who would trade in their freedom for their protection deserve neither."

Drug testing is doing nothing to help your company other than making its insurance company happy. Tell them your urine is yours and they do not have a right to it.

The aclu would be very interested in why they all of a sudden want drug testing in a non-profit org.

You may be OK for occasional Friday night use, if you are prepared to provide a dilute sample the next week.


Theoretical, you can't be singled out for testing unless they have both a reasonable suspicion, and their drug testing policy covers reasonable suspicion testing.
In reality, "random" testing is often used if they have you pegged. I have no idea what the drug test laws are in Illinois. In general, employers can get away with anything they are willing to defend in court.

Good luck finding a job without a drug testing policey.

Did another home test last week. Strong line on the negative.

Called in today, drank 3 cups of coffee, 1 cup of Yogi Detox tea, 2 Vitamin waters, multivitamin, and gas station energy shot before test.

It was a bit light in color, I had at least 5 good urinations before sample was given.

They capped, sealed andtemp tested and then put it into something that looked like a cofee maker.

Was this a GC/MS?

Should I be worried?

well, no. you should'nt be worried, the sample is already taken. you have to just wait to find out what they find.

good luck to you. i was under the impression that the GC/MS is really expensive, so that might be a factor in figuring if they used that or just a normal urine dip tester

Type of test is 5 panel NDOT Standard/No. I don't know what that means.

sounds like a standard cheapo urine test. its sounds like you were diluted enough to pass that for sure.

5 panel = coke, opiates, marijuana, amphetamines, meth, if my memory serves.

You should not be worried.

The big reference labs will screen the sample with an immunoassay (much like a home test) and then use GC/MS for any positives.

GC/MS (Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry) is a fairly expensive test that will identify the exact molecule.

NDOT 5 panel is Non Department of Transportation testing of opiates, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine and…THC.

3 yrs. ago I did the pre-employ and they took the sample, capped it, sealed it and turned it over on its side and said that I was good to go after about 5 minutes. I asked the lady if it was cool and she said "you're fine." I thought that was the end of it. Here we are 3 yrs. later going through this crap.

This time around it was a lot more rigid and less laid back. What worries me is that they put the sample in the coffee machine looking thing. It had a door that opened in front to a compartment that they put the sample in. Everything was computerized. the monitor screen said "Injecting..." in a small window opened up off the main screen after they put the sample in.

It was really intimidating and the lady working there was like a pissed off Nurse Ratchet. I had to empty my pockets, turn my pockets out, show them my hands, wash my hands and untuck my shirt from my pants. It was not monitored otherwise. They did not ask me any questions.

It thoroughly sucked.

ya man, sorry you have to go through that. its pretty lame considering mostly all other drugs are out of the users system within a few days, if not a week. imo its a discrimination toward marijuana users, but with the current legal status that sentiment doesnt go very far.

the machine could just be an automated dipper. meaning they put the cup in sealed, and then the machine breaks the seal and inserts the test strip. this is speculation, obviously, but based on what you said about the 5 panel ndot test, its probably just that.

Any way it goes I'm going to have to live with this as a reality. Next time, if there is one, I'll be better off. Got to focus also on the pre-employ for the new job I'm looking for. If this one comes up +, I'll probably just quit rather than go through EAP and having that kind of record out there. There are lots of other agencies in other places but it probably means an hour commute each way, and I have no idea what kind of testing policies those places have. So I'm going to have a chill weekend and worry about it when I walk through their door on Monday.
