reporting my hair test results

Hey guys I wanted to report my results to everyone...

I need to take a hair drug test for a job I am looking to get, and I bought HairConfirm hair drug test kit online to test myself to see where I'm at. I smoke marijuana every day so I am definitely considered a heavy smoker. I stopped smoking cold turkey when I found out about the hair test for the job.

On my sixth day of sobriety, I sent in my hair to the HairConfirm lab. At that point, I had washed my hair with baking soda and laundry detergent three times since I stopped smoking.

Well, I got my HairConfirm results back and it did indeed come back positive for marijuana. The amount of THC metabolite detected was .32pg/mg. The cut-off was .30pg/mg. What do these numbers mean exactly? Does it mean I was very close to passing, but had just slightly enough to get a positive?

My actual drug test for the job is on Monday (5 days from the time I write this). Do you recommend the Jerry G method as my only hope for passing?

Nodeal, I'm sorry that you have to deal with the invasive, tyrranical system of busybodies. I wish I had some good advise for you. Hopefully, others will.

I appreciate it, BibleGuy. It's a shame because the whole interview process went so well! This job is a real catch and I'm a great worker. Unfortunately, my harmless personal habits automatically disqualify me, no matter what. I'm pretty bummed out and am deciding whether to take up more extreme measures to get my hair clean or to seek employment elsewhere.

You maybe OK.

It will depend on the THC (actually a THC breakdown product) cut off level used by your future employer’s lab.
There is no official cut off level. Your lab used 30 pg/mg. There is a proposed Federal level of 50.
Labs can use whatever level they think they can defend.

They test the closest one and a half inches of hair. This represents about 90 days.

Ten days between tests should decrease the THC concentration in the closest 1 1/2 " of hair by a little over 10%. The portion of your hair that is closest to the scalp is now THC free. Therefore the closer to the scalp they cut it the better. When you sign the Custody and Control Form, you will sign a statement that includes that the hair was cut close to the scalp. If they do not cut it close, ask them to do it again.

It looks like your wash technique helped. I have no informed knowledge about wash techniques outside of knowing that a significant portion of THC is attached to the melanin in the hair.

Good luck, and I hope your new job puts you in to a high tax bracket.

As far as I know, there is no product out there that will get THC out of the actual hair folicle. See, when you view a hair under a good microscope, you see that the hair is covered in a cuticle, looks like overlapping scales. Now, to reach the hair folicle itself, you would have to have a product that penetrates this cuticle, and not a single product out there can do this. They also test for masking agents, so don't do anything too extreme.

That being said, I'm sorry you gotta go through this BS, and I hope the cutoff level is higher than your THC concentration. Ive heard it said that drug testing labs only process about half of their samples due to shear volume, but that was regarding piss tests so IDK.

Yeah guys I am upset about the HairConfirm results but I'm gonna take the drug test for the job regardless of my failure. Hopefully their cutoff levels are higher than .30pg/mg.

I originally thought that I wasn't going to be taking the test, so I smoked a bit yesterday night. Then today I decided fuck it I might as well try the test, so I'm gonna take the drug test tomorrow before the THC I smoked yesterday has a chance to reach my hair follicle and make it outside the scalp.

I haven't used the Mac or Jerry G methods, just baking soda and laundry detergent. I probably did this about 4-5 times total (3 times before I sent in the sample to HairConfirm), and I will do it again once tonight and again right before my test.

Wish me luck! If it doesn't work out, too bad for this company, I'm more than qualified for this job
