Cooking with moldy bud?
A recently cut plant i received has patches of mold growing spottily on it. i was going to attempt to cure it, but on second thought, im not going to smoke any of it, so i was wondering, once i remove the main patches of it, can i cook with it?
i dont really see any reason not too, but im assuming the mold is perfectly ok to ingest, especially after being heated to high temps through cooking. any experience, ideas, comments? thanks all. |

no shit pharm girl, thats why im not going to bother smoking or curing it.
i know mold is shit. i was wondering indirectly if any use can be made of the plant, specifically from cooking with the material, after i do my best to remove most of it (i dont think i can remove all of it). |

i have heard it said that the best thing thas can be done with moldy bud is to make hash by bubble bag or ice water method, but cooking it is ok if there is only a tiny bit.
your best bet is to chop it up fine and cook the water out quickly, and if there is still some moldy taste i guess all you can do is put it with something so spicy that the bitter flavor is overwhelmed |

well if my computer wasnt shit id find it for ya. but im sure you can find it as well on a quicker computer. i think it was a post by pharmgirl? whose husband left the herbs get moldy. it was in the grow forum. but i posted something i found somewhere online that said you can kill the mold without affecting the thc by laying flat on a cookie sheet and baking at like 365 or so. the temperature was pretty specific, as was the time to cook it for. it may have been found on wikipedia?? but not sure what youd search under. but best bet would be to look for that thread in the grow forum. sorry to give such vague advice.
found it: just read this on wikipedia and thought about this thread. perhaps its worth a shot. although ya never really know until its either too late or your fine. In order to kill microorganisms, especially mold, the scientists "Levitz and Diamond (1991) suggested baking marijuana in home ovens at 150 °C [302 °F], for five minutes before smoking. Oven treatment killed conidia of A. fumigatus, A. flavus and A. niger, and did not degrade the active component of marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)."[42]
