TDS is measuring dissolved ions by checking the resistance. spot on.

if jesus is still blessed with his carpentry skills he can check this out:

Day 58 (The Clones are coming!!!)

Well back with an update. The girls have finally grown enough to provide me with 30 clones. 12 from "mother" A, 9 from "mother" B and 9 from "mother" C. I hope that the clones will root within the next 2 weeks and will be ready to flower approximately 2-3 weeks following that.

My camera is on the fritz! Looking for a new one soon. Here is a pic of the the chopped mothers and clones in their tray.

Well it wasn't the camera, it was me. Had it set on macro and forgot. Here is a shot of the current grow. First picture being over all and the second being up close of the clones and rock wool. Forgive the blur on the second, it was shot through the clear dome.

Here is a pictures of one of the fans, they seem to be curling slightly. Any ideas?
The conditions have been the same throughout the grow.

Could it simply be stress from the cloning?

First day of Veg

Today is the first day of veg for the clones in their new ebb and flow tray. I have set up the table to fill for 30 min every 3 hours. Now I am used to DWC and don't like the idea of taking the girls out of their water. I was going to run it 30 min at lights on, halfway through lights, just before lights out and in the middle of the night cycle. Any recommendations?

I have only put in the first 12 clones that were from the only plant that has shown me its a female. There are 18 more ready to veg once the mothers decide to show their sex.

I have also damaged my hanna grocheck. The damned sensor come out of water when setting up the res for the ebb and flo. Searching for a new electrode or possibly a ph pen now.

Hey, I missed that last plant problem picture, sorry.
Obviously you got it figured as being an Mg def. to make the tips of the leaves turn to the side.

As far as getting any electronic testing devices for water, I can only advise you to skip the hydro shops, they are way too expensive.
Reef shops are the answer. Places that deal with people who keep reef aquariums carry all the same testers as the hydro shops... cheaper.
And sometimes a lot more different types as well.

I was not sure what it was, the tips of alot of the fan leaves started to yellow and one plant started to turn red and brown. I just guessed that the last fill up must have been too strong so I decided to flush them for a week with straight water. It seemed to clear everything up.

Interesting information. If I ever think about getting into hydro, I'll come back and take another look at this information.

Day 89

We are within a week of starting to bud these clones. Got a new ph meter and things are starting to look a little bit better in the sacred garden.

A new ph meter! When they add a whole shwack of chlorine to our water, I really wish we had a functioning pen.

Those babies look like they are doing good. Nice work!

Hey guys, have a non plant related issue that I need to address. When ordering my 600w I immediately turned it on with the seedlings. Well 2 weeks into that the bulb blew. I took it as a sign from above and thats when I put the fluorescents back into use. Well its about time to bud and I switched to the HPS again 2 weeks ago Sunday. When I woke this morning my bulb had quit working again.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

You mean you got another bulb and that blew too?

Could be irregularities with the voltage of your electricity supply. You can check with a multimeter. Being careful not to get electrocuted of course.

Maybe your ballast is faulty.

Possibly you got unlucky and had two faulty bulbs. This is unlikely though.

Does anyone here run their light without the grounding plug? My timer didn't have a ground so I ripped it off the power cord for my ballast. Is this a possible cause of the problem?

Shouldn`t cause the bulb to blow- I think, depends how your ballast works. What ballast are you using?

Increases the risk of electrocution or electrical fires though; I`d try to get another timer with earthing if poss.

First thing I`d check is your power supply. I`ve lived somewhere before where all kinds of electrical stuff kept blowing. When we checked the voltage was around 280 instead of 240.

You need a multimeter that can measure ac voltage.

I will bring home a multimeter and check the voltage.

I have ordered a new timer with grounding. It should be here early next week.

I have also called HTGSupply and they are going to send me a new bulb. They claim that they have found the problem to be with the bulbs and I am not the only customer. The kit came with a GROWBRIGHT and they are going to be replacing it with an AgroMax? They are telling me that other "problem customers" have been fixed with this bulb change. With the new bulb and timer I hope that the problem dissipates.
