Talking Harvest Time, What's the Procedure

OK, i kno this is probably on here somewhere, but here goes anyway...

Harvest time is around the corner, First time odviously, when I'm going to get my buds, how do I do it? Do i cut the whole plant down, do i peel the buds off of the plant, only take some of the buds and let others die off? My reasoning behind the last one is to have generations of buds not just one crop then dead, if thats possible.

Again Im new so dont be too harsh...

Unless you have more plants growing or seeds then this is the last generation of what you have. Cut the entire plant down, trim off fan leaves. Trim buds and when they can be snapped off the stem then cure them.

So the plant stem/roots are trash then?

Has anyone tried to make a next generation? How do you increase the potency with cross breeding then? if not generations???

the life cycle of the plant follows this pattern: when growing conditions are good, the plant grows as much root stem and leaf as possible. when the light hours are less and it starts to get cold, the plant tries its best to make seeds and then it dies.
plant breeding means making seeds; if the plant is prevented from making any seeds, then there is no next generation.

You could clone it? Im no grower so i dont know about it - just what ive read here. From what i understand you cut off certain branches and pot them - they will then grow into a plant themselves.

Trim all the fan leaves. Hang entire plant upside down in dark place(I do this for 3 days). I then trim the bud from the branches, put them in brown paper shopping bags and store in a dark cupboard, opening bags a couple times a day. I do this for 3 days also. Then I put the buds in glass jars and store in a dark cupboard, opening the jars a couple times a day. I do this for a week and then I smoke. I leave the pot stored in the jars in same cupboard until all is smoked. For pot that ends up being stored for months, I continue to open the jars to prevent mold.
