the flyovers with thermal cameras are kind of a myth which started over a decade ago.

But if wanna play it safe, theres some kind of insulation (sold in grow shops) u can put on your roof/attic that holds the heat from showing on these cameras

If your loft is insulated (regular fibreglass insulation) then you`re safe enough. If it isn`t you should consider it to save on heating bills anyway.

Also you may want to consider lining your grow area with mylar to use all the lumens your light(s) are putting out.

infrared senses heat not cannabis plants. they are looking for a roof that is unusually hot due to growing lights. in the winter its easy to spot the rooves with melted snow/ice. all you need to do is ensure you have really good ventilation and insulation and your roof will not be any hotter than normal.

So what do they see the heat from lamps of something and know exactly what temperature a lamp is, maybe you're boiling water or got a fire going, and i've never heard of growing lights melting ice on the roof, but then again i live in Florida

they are looking for a roof that is hotter than most in the neighbourhood. you can get an easy average by looking around. most people don't build fires in their attic. as far as i know they do not cruise around pointlessly looking for attic grows, but with infrared cameras it is really obvious to spot if one house's roof is hotter than the others around it.

big grow lights can get pretty hot. if you are growing in your attic you can use a couple inches of styrofoam and make sure you have good ventilation. its not some magic xray camera that looks for weed plants.

most countries require a warrant to dispatch any kind of FLIR equipment, as it's deemed invasive. It's therefore incredibly expensive/unlikely.

one guy in my neck of the woods was the only house that never had its driveway shoveled and the roof was clean even after a snowstorm

polyshield is the product that is supposed to eliminate the detection but either way you look at it its retarded to grow 1200 plants in a house and think you can get away with it.

From what i've heard what you really have to worry about is letting it show in your power bill, and thats only if you grow ALOT.

Thats just what i've heard though, dunno if its true.

Polyshield does work, and it is expensive, but cheaper than buying JUSTICE (insert joke here!). We watched a National Guard chopper with FLIR camera hover over us and we had 75 plants under 6 1000 SV in a HOUSE TRAILER, and we were the ONLY house for miles. We vented under the trailer as well, into a dispersement pit we dug (clay and sand really seem to absorb heat).

Glad i live in a small town in the boonies. God knows our town could never afford anything like this. But we dont even have a hydroponics store. Ive heard about this stuff though. I wouldn't be worried unless your growing more than 20-30 plants.

What about this?
In 1992, it was reported briefly in the news that the american federal government provided a grant for $643,500 to the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) to detect both outdoor and indoor marijuana cultivation, with the use of a satilite. According to the report, the Santa Monica, California Sheriff's Department would team up with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to develop the system. According to the 2002 National Drug Control Strategy, the use of Remote sensing would be run by the Department of Defence for the ONDCP, though further information of this project is classified.

They can still see it in the basement.
Maybe have a furnace on the main floor with a grow directly below... may only work in the winter... may be totally inefficient for the furnace too.

make sure its really well insulated and grow in the basement. the only thing they are looking for is a heat signature, if you can hide that then its invisible to these detection methods.

^^^Exactly. Ovens, fridges, furnaces, hot water heaters, all have a signature. A small grow could be hid by using one of these for cover. If you insulate well and/or get rid of the heat through dispersement. you will have no problems. I have also heard that satellite story, it sounds a little far fetched that your average grower would have to worry about that. I would think it would be VERY costly to access, and then there is that reasonable right to privacy issue. I also read an article in NatGeo about a gentleman who fought and won a drug charge that was based on evidence obtained through infrared means. Just remember, if you have the money, you can get out of almost anything. Just ask OJ!! When I was going large scale, we ALWAYS set aside about $10,000 for legal expenses if the shit hit the fan. America offers the best justice money can buy!
