So, tomorrow we are going to do the duct work for the exhaust fan so I need some help which I can't find any good answers online.

In my flowering room I only need an exhaust fan that can do 192 CFM's. However, the duct is running straight across *no bends* or anything but it's about 22 feet away. I was thinking about the Vortex 8" inline fan that does 700+ CFM's and I am sure more is better than not enough. Or do you think I am going overboard and I should be okay with a 6" Vortex fan?

So my questions is?

1. Where can I get good ducting that is 8 or 6 inches and that is 25 feet long?
2. What's a good carbon filter I can use with this?

Tomorrow we are going to start the duct work, but I wanted to get your input on this matter.

Thanks for all your help!

Try aircon and ventilation spares outlets. Way cheaper than hydro stores usually.

If they ask questions pretend to be a plumber fitting bathrooms, you don't know much about ventilation but have a good idea what parts you need .

Carbon can- make sure it is of sufficient capacity- there are many brands, I'm currently using Rhino, they aren't exceptionally better than other brands.

By the way, Since I am spending all this money on this stuff, I am going to use a 600W HPS for my flowering room. Doing the math it's putting out more lumens per watt then the others so I might as well go for it. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Also, if there is a particular brand ballast/light/etc you guys recommend please let me know. My local hydro shop carries anything hydrofarm.com carries.

Thank you all for your time.

I can get a dim-able ballast however, why would I want to dim? besides heat issues?

Thanks,

because you dont allways need that much power allways helps with heat I veg my plants with the light set on low as I get in to flowering i kick it up. Also in life its better to have it not need it then need it not have it. It gives you more options pluss most mh/hps combos come like that.

monstergardens- digital ballasts

Humboldt MicroMole are like the rolls royce of ballasts, they're fairly new on the market I think. They use good components and are very efficient at producing useful light. I have a friend who just bought 4 of the 1kW ones and he sounds very happy with them.

Quantum or Lumatek are recognised brands.
I've heard there can be RF interference issues with the older purple 1kw lumateks. Maybe they have sorted this with the new dimmable model. I know the 600 and 400w models are ok anyway.
There are quite a few cheap chinese digi ballasts available- many of them work fine.

If you google, you should be able to find reviews where people compare different models.

I'd agree with Bobbito that the dimming feature is very handy- when the plants are smaller you can dim the ballast and move the light closer for efficiency- then as the plants grow you can spread them out, move the light further away and turn it up to max.
Also if there is a heat wave you can turn it down to avoid frying your plants.
So yeah, it is a very handy feature.

Do a bit of reading to check bulb compatibility. There are issues with some digi ballasts and some bulbs. If in doubt email the ballast manufacturers for a list of compatible bulbs.

Never herd of the Humboly micromole I'll have to check them out. Honestly if I was gonna buy a new light I would look into those new plasma light, they have low heat low electric cost. They have some with glass filters that filter UVC, and allows UVa an UVB and I hear iif you put them together with HPS there the best thing you can have right now closest thing to sun light. There not cheap there up there in price like led's.

FG- Those lights are really nice and you can find them on ebay for around the same price as the dimable lumitec its like evry size watt light in 1 only wish it had a fan in it. Electronics hate running hot but not a big deal on of my lights just has heat sinks and it doesnt get crazy hot.One of these will probably be my next light. I would go for this one LEARNING247 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Humboldt-Lig...-/200623479761
