Some of you seem to be a bit mixed up, so I'll try to re-iterate what people have said previously. (I'm fully aware this is an old post) THC is soluble in water, but only in the sense that every organic molecule is soluble in water, meaning not very much. The amount of THC that can be contained in water before it's saturated (meaning it can't hold anymore) is dependent on temperature. As temperature increases, water can hold more THC. Since the opposite is true, THC has especially low solubility in an ice chamber where the water temp is near freezing. So, while some THC dissolves in water, it's a negligible amount.

If a tree falls in the woods, and there is no one there to hear, does it make a noise ?

Unless you find yourself trying to get stoned in a laboratory some time.

for practical applications involving cannabis.....thc is bonded to the oil in the plant and is best released thru heat and not water.

Water pipes and bongs DO NOT degrade the levels of the thc in your weed sufficiently that any human I know of would be able to detect the loss.

yes, it makes a noise. I hate that phrase, it's so stupid. Just like which came first, the chicken or the egg?

so, despite a bunch of people getting pissed off about this, i found this thread pretty interesting. for some reason i've never done anything with weed but smoke and vape, but it seems like its a good idea to cook with it. would honey work for this?

As a flavoring agent, not as a base ingredient. Stick to milk or butter.

You can cook it in oil. Don't see why lard wouldn't work.

In general usage, the term "insoluble" is used to denote "very slightly soluble." Many solutes are at least marginally soluble in a given solvent. However, in many practical contexts, a solute that exhibits low solubility in a solvent can be treated as "insoluble" in the solvent, if the extent of dissolution is negligible. In this sense, THC is "insoluble" in water at room temperature.

If we analyze the molecular structure of THC, we see that it consists primarily of nonpolar CH bonds. Hence, dissolution in a polar solvent such as water does not occur readily.

Wow, old bump.

While we're here though I'm gonna throw this out there: for people who don't want to or can't eat fats and alcohols i've heard thc is also GLYCERIN soluble.

thc is soluble in almost all nonpolar solvents (hexanes, mineral oil, fats (oils), etc)

You can boil a pound of buds and drink the entire 'tea' and nothing will happen.

Has anyone here ever smoked/seen Honey Oil? Its 90% THC, its an oil, and we all remember in grade school where we learned "oil doesn't mix with water". I could break it down to how the phospholipids in the oil repel H2O because of them being hydrophobic and the hydrophilic heads and shit, but thats boring.

honey oil is made from extraction with butane (nonpolar solvent) and then you evaporate the butane
