"Greener with age" is a fine idea. If you go by actual age, mine might be too dark to read.

RE,
People are fine with the aesthetics of the place, imo it kind of has a timeless quality since I've been here so long. Most people just want this place to run smoother. Also, I think you're getting this backlash about not listening is because you're making these changes before you're asking for our input.

If I involved all members in ever decision I'd never get anything done.
I apologize I did not realize that the coloring of names was such a significant detail here. In the future I'll try and be more considerate. |

He's not going to run everything by members. He changed something, most of you threw a bitchfit, some actually discussed it. It was changed back. He's apologized. Everything clear now? Another thing, lets remember this is FEEDBACK. Keep comments to the point and on topic.

I'm coming up on 10 years, how about a red name, or cyan or royal purple? I don't know, something that pops!
![]() On a side note, I know you've changed everything back, but I disagree with the different shades for different activity levels...I've been here a long time but have a relatively low post count, mainly because I prefer to observe. I used to be admin here and I was playing around with color schemes and stuff like that way back in the day, so I feel your pain in regards to communtiy backlash!

I too have been Admin of this site, hell I first created the 'Old School' usergroup with green names. I know the grief they can get, but I also know that it's because people get this sorta stuff surprised on them when there are clearly more important issues to address first. Honestly, you have to expect a little immaturity and hostility over the internet, but it doesn't make their arguments less valid because they didn't say it nicely. And for the most part, people were offering suggestions to amend what had happened as well. Also please notice that I wasn't for or against it, in fact I mostly made light of the situation up until my previous post, which was still pretty damn cordial imo. It's this sort of disconnect and defensiveness that irks me.

It's over, let's move forward here. I will not change the coloring on usergroups again. Let it die.

i don't think he means so much that there are bugs to take priority over other issues, but more that color schemes weren't an "issue" to begin with

I think he was just trying to create some more distinctive user group flare for us.
I like what has been done so far Envy...and taken back. Life changes, skin changes. I can adjust. Yahooka has seen alot of changes I'm sorta suprised myself about people being angry with the name greening. I thnk you got the Vickyyy as a long term member thing fixed? That is all that really irked me. That it was pretty much everyone who was from this week who joined was new, and almost everyone else was elite, or long term,,,wich ever. Thanks for the work and hope you have a tough skin, mentally, some of use are better at expressing ourselves than others. You people know who you are

Well as far as i know the growfaq links are still broken [i.e. in the 'lost forum' i believe] thought admittedly I haven't checked in a while. I'd rather see a new collaboration for a more modernized GrowFAQ anyway before these cosmetic changes. I also agree with the general consensus that there are probably way too many subforums that relatively get no use at all, along with some discontinuity of the defaulted themes placed, like in Sports & Autos. The board does appear to be running smoother, though I have noticed a dip in response performance, but it doesn't 'hiccup' as much as it did before. Also I'm glad the main page is finally getting a facelift, which I definitely applaud you for.
I personally would like to know why non-members no longer have 'Today's Posts' in the top menu bar nor the forum jump drop down menu at the bottom. Sometimes when I work on multiple comps and just wanna read and not sign in it was still pretty easy to navigate. Not so much anymore. Imo non-members should have just as much access as regular members without the ability to post. I guess I just wish you'd keep us more informed as to what you are doing, RE or at least some sort of advanced warning about the changes to come. You had given us a pretty detailed list when you first arrived but then have been mostly silent ever since with the exceptions of the problems that members themselves bring up. Then again, it could just be me being nostalgic.

I've already eliminated many sub forums. If you have a suggested for exactly what other forums you'd like to see removed please let me know.
There are some under lining server problems that testclear.com is aware of; Memory, Cron Jobs over using etc.. I can't do anything to fix these problems. There is a new FAQ type system in place, however I am not transferring over the old FAQs. You members will need to submit new ones on the new system. Guests or "Non Members" have been restricted in order to increase registration rate while decreasing bandwidth used by "trolls" or unnecessary bots. I apologize I didn't detail my work to members, Admins & Mods had visibility into what I was doing all the time; but not normal members. My work is almost 100% complete and a "Beta" phase will begin shortly for the Long Time Member group. Last edited by ResidualEnvy; 08-26-2009 at 08:57 AM. |

Are you serious? You were one of the people that requested OH was condensed. All the posts from the sub forums that were removed are now in the OH forum.
