To Chat or Not to Chat - Page 2

I think it could be useful for techinical problems and such. I get alot of confusing PMs, and that could be settled easier with a chat box I'm sure. And sometimes people need more support than you can guess work in to a message back.

It would also change the tone of who people appear to be, when you chat with them rather than post with them. Not to say thats good or bad.

I talk to alot of Yahookans on line, you know who you are, and they are all ladies and gentleman, as opposed to their 'quirky' behaviour on the forums. So I think that chatting will only deepen the texture of our relationships here as well.

this sounds dumb as fuck.

but since the clowns at top have been fearing an irc takeover for years, it makes sense to try and form their own 'chat' to squash the other.

but the more i think about it the chat seems alright. i don't think it would cut down on posting. i.e. if someone's got a good story they'll thread it before going to the chat, ya know? maybe have it viewable only from the home page and the forum's main page so if someone's in a thread they're not diverted by the chat.

and to the kr3w chiming in with the virtues of irc, just cuz you couldn't ban noobs here doesn't mean you can't have fun with them. although i have a conspicuous fear that any mention of # would be strictly forbidden. . .

I say viewable, but not like the guestbook (the what? look around some folks) you should have to be registered to use it, that way if the chat is entertaining enough we can steer some newbs to the forum itself.
