As long as it keep the site running okay good.

I would like to talk with more members, rather than hastling them for their messanger info.

I want to talk damn it! and sometimes real time can get alot deeper.

Seriously.. and this guys in charge of stuff?

I wouldnt have too much of a problem (would be interesting to try it out), but I feel like it might detract from posting/deeper discussion on the forums.

This is the downside to any chat system on a forum. More chatting = Less posting.

Because its nice that people have to have open discussions, and we can all benefit from it.

Conversations that don't have any need to be private, or less-than-formal (not that yahooka is too formal), could end up being had in chat more and more often and the sharing of these things lost.

Either fun stuff, or more serious discussion.

I thought the whole point, from the sponsor's perspective, of re-doing the site was to increase activity.

I think a shoutbox would detract more than help. I mean, there already IS a chatroom if you know where to look, and it works out pretty well separately.

A trial run isn't a bad idea though. One important thing would be to keep shoutbox constant, so that you dont have to leave it to visit threads.

There is a certain clique that runs the chatroom, by runs I mean they set it up and they are the ops but it can be a clique just the same, they have the say in who shows and who goes. Fair enough, its their place.

Personally I think a chatroom could spawn the flood of 'why did so and so kick/ban me for saying hello?' or 'Why is everyone in chat such an asshole' threads. We've all seen it, it's why BH only let a select few (very few, only one I know of) references to the 'trial run' remain floating around the board. So really, with AIM and Yahoo and MSN and twitter and facebook and MySpace and all that other god awful shit, theres plenty of places to chat without it going on here.

Besides, there are discussions going on here in near real time anyway, used to be more, but with a jumpin' membership it'll get back to that kind of board.
