Changing a person's post isn't kosher. If it's in appropriate, mods should either ask for it to be changed, or delete it, not change what the person says.

Let's jam it up with another point of view. Seriously.

Was the post changed because there was no redeeming qualities in the original post?

Was the intent of the post inherently and racially inflammatory?

If I was modding the forum that post was in, and the answer was 'yes' to those questions, then I would boot the post and PM with an explanation and direct them to FAQ which clearly explains and supports the decision by the Mods.

EOS.

I also feel like booting the post is the only choice. Editing the post, for any reason- that's enough to drive people away.

It was deleted/he was banned because there is precedence at these forums of ban/mod hate for using the n word in open defiance...he will prolly be back in 3 days, if that long...

In all fairness to Dan, he emailed me a few months back and told me he had deleted a post I made in GD and explained why he did it.

It was the right thing to do, as the post I left was raunchy to say the least.

It's not like Dan ruined some pitchers perfect game with a bad call.

If anyone has beef with how a moderation is carried out, just talk to us about it.
That is where the trouble arose.

I think it's loud and clear what the preferences of those modded are and am sure that will be taken to heart and put into practice next time by the Mods.

I can speak from experience that I've been approached, talked through the issue and reconsidered my actions or made concessions more than a time or two.

YaHooka is pretty organic and knowing what is 'good' or 'best' is an evolution.

We ALL, mods and members, aren't the same people we were 5 years ago and we should all get a pat on the back for that.

My concern was the permaban.
What I picked up on was enough to say I didn't think it warranted that.
I asked if he could have a reduced sentence and The banning Mod said 'ok'.
