Some new guy posted something lastnight, but got banned for god knows what. How the hell can you tell if someone is a troll/banned member after 1 post? People probably just figure we're a bunch of assholes.

If they post a link in their first post which leads to ww.buyfakerolex.com then they're probably a spammer.

Heh... I thought we were ALL trolls...

We have an IP detector, so that when two IP match a warning pops up.
We look into it and see what's going on.
(That's how we know who Alts are around here as well.)
Usually it's a previous spammer, so we look and usually they have some spammy stuff in a signature line about 'lawyers, viagra or is in Ukrainian'

I do an IP search to see how many other Alts get picked up, and usually they are spammers too.

I then take that IP to a website to report and search an IP for instances of spam reported about that IP... and 9/10 they have like 5 other aliases, what sites they've been reported by and what country the IP comes through.

It's NOT really a random process at all.
You think we're just napping back here?

We've sent PMs to folks and deleted their spam before as well.
They usually come back with more though, even after the warning.
So... anymore, it's fairly safe to consider a one time poster/spammer ban-able, and the IP searches on Yahooka and the Spam reporting site is pretty spot on with our predictions.

Spammers are RELENTLESS! I'm finding this out with my own web endeavors, they are a pain right in the ass! I finally just started banning entire countries from my classifieds site.

Mostly India and Pakistan, after I blocked those countries the spam decreased considerably. Then I weeded out a few more countries after that.

Most of our spam and IP bans come through Ukraine.

Yes it is still working. In fact I'm a new member and I even posted for more than once... It might be because they have not found a post to reply or a thread to make. They just want to join and read the threads.
