Converts the guitar signal from unbalanced Hi-Z to balanced XLR, making for a clearer, better sound. Some mixers have a dedicated guitar input which does the same thing.
The best way would be guitar->DI Box->mic preamp->mixer->soundcard/audio interface
But if your like me and cant afford a mix preamp, it sounds fine without one.
