You have to understand (not you personally, but people in general who want to grasp topics such as this) that opposites are, in fact, opposites. If our universe is (as I believe) currently contracting, the "laws" of nature which a physicist or astronomer observes and describes in his own terms would be radically different from how a physicist or astronomer would observe and describe a universe that is expanding.

What makes you think the universe is contracting? I have seen quite a bit of significant physicists that would care to differ.
