I understand that you are not telling individuals they are letting the government walk all over them, and that "you" is adressing the american people as a whole. Right?

I can understand that you feel this way. There are some freedoms that have been ristricted, but it is such a small amount. I am not in favor of censorship and things of that nature. Restricting people's access to certain things is something I was brought up to disagree with.

Most people who grow up in a liberal environment (im guessing many of you were, I was) grow up being exposed to more things at an earlier age than most people. Whether it is little things such as art, movies "desegnated for"" an older audience, books, and ill even go as far as to say drugs. Such exposure helps us appreciate and see the stupidity of restriction caused mainly (i dont mean to offend anyone but its true) religion. Things like these should never be restricted in my opinion; certainly not by religion. It should be a parents responcibility to shelter their kids from "ungodlyness" or other "evils". Keeping people from the things that make up the real world is silly and nieve. However with the exception of banning any form of artistic expression, some of the other "freedoms" we are robbed of are to bennefit us as Americans.

For instance the Seat Belt Thread. The reason you are supposed to wear a seatbelt is to keep you from getting thrown out of a car through glass on onto pavement where you will probably die. To say this is an imposition of our natural freedoms is not logical.

Drugs is also another example. I think that drugs are fine. I obviously smoke and have tried a few other things. But i only try drugs after extensive research. Why? Health reasons. I dont like to do things that are addictive or so terrible for you. Whether we like to hear it, with the exception of weed, drugs are pretty bad. There are countless stories of people who ruin their lives because of hard drugs (coke, crack, heroin, all the infamous drugs). I think people should be able to make their own choices regarding thing like this. But realistically most people dont have the will power to seperate themselves from drugs to begin with, or after they have tried them and the government knows this. Fatality due to drugs would be enormous if made legal. I dont want you guys to think i dont think weed should be made legal, i do. But dont you think the crack heads you pass on the street want crack to be legal to. No matter how they got to be crack heads or any type of junkey (im talkng like full blown crackhead and if you smoke crack or have you will no if this apllies to you) are probably the least productive, unhealthiest, most looked down apon members of society. But maybe if made legal less of these or the same amount of these people would exists. But the government doesnt care to find out what would happen. Personaly i feel that is the logic behind the restriction of many of these freedoms.

If you werent addressing stuff like this or there are more freedoms than just these you are pissed about not having let me know? Maybe you'll convince me...
