I had ovarian cancer. it runs in my family, young or old, my 30 year old cousin will most likely die from hers, (hers was already in her bones), my aunt as well, although she is older, (but she has survived almost a year longer then they thought she would) and my grandmother already died from it.
i was lucky they caught it so early that it was curable (we all got tested when grandma died), my other relatives were not so lucky. they think perhaps if they had been tested at my age or younger they would have already had some smaller tumors as well. since we don't know how fast it progresses from the first and second stages to the last, only that once in the last stages it is a very aggressive cancer and usually uncurable.
it's been almost 2 years since i was first diagnosed and has deffinitly not been a fun experience. it's like a huge weight lifting. the last few months has just been waiting to see if anything will show up. since nothing has the chances now are a lot lower. i still have to be tested every 6 months for the rest of my life jsut in case though. i will probably get a historectomy as soon as i am done having children since this type of cancer is often reoccuring. (my grandmother was cured twice of it before it killed her the third time.)
