Again, it depends on the skill level of the farmer. Once a farmer is at a certain point in his/her persuits, then, yes, genetics matter. A lot.
But until the farmer reaches that point, genetics plays little part in what the farmer produces. (Other than obvious ones like hemp vs pot, or ruderalis vs sativa/indica.)
