Definitely not a coincidence. Reality is laced through reality of itself like a thread pattern being spun in a quilt or blanket.
I do agree that the recognition of these geometric patterns are furthering Mankind's consciousness along mostly for the sake that they are exposing the Unity which exists in all things. It's hard to create any kind of division anywhere when the essential components that compose us mimic each other in every aspect.
