I can see the point you're making, but I have to say I disagree. I think saying there is something requires proof of that fact, saying there is nothing is the default and the logical case unless there is evidence to the contrary.
Example: Is it as valid to say there is a monster under my bed as saying there is no monster under my bed? The only real difference is that you can definitely prove there isn't a monster under my bed while no one will ever be able to prove there isn't a god.
