James Coonan (b. December 21, 1946) is an Irish-American gangster from Hell's Kitchen, New York. He is the former head of the Westies, an Irish American organized crime association operating from the Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan's West Side in New York City. Coonan is currently serving a 75-year prison sentence for racketeering and other convictions. Before his conviction, Coonan was a resident of Hazlet, New Jersey.
