ive dealt with the same type of thing, but not close to as bad. for me, smoking in certain situations where i felt uncomfortable would trigger anxiety. Id have racing thoughts where it felt like i just lost concentration, hard to describe, just really bad paranoia.

listen to your boyfriend, he knows you best, hes probably right. id say it was atmosphere, combined with being really high. goin to a concert with people i didnt know, plus being really high, would definitley give me some anxiety at least. as for the first time, maybe it was because you smoked and your boyfriend didnt. maybe they had different weed you hadnt smoked before, or maybe you never smoked that bowl before or something. maybe you were in a bad mindset ahead of time. for me i linked my anxiety with depression.

for the time being, smoke only in comfortable settings until you feel normal again. try smoking less when youre in situations like that. if it continues to happen, you should consider taking a break from smoking. otherwise its only going worse. believe me, its all in your head. once you get in that mindset once it can turn into a habit almost, at least for me, to the point where it happens everytime you smoke.

and definitely do not let this minor detail stop you from taking hallucinogens. If anything, they would help, as long as you are in the right mindset. For me, taking mushrooms drastically improved my overall mood and condition. i felt more in touch with myself and normal than i had in a while.
