ANYWAYS, back on topic:

This is the email they sent to me as an enrolling student for next year, it isn't really too interesting but whatever:

As an incoming San Diego State University student, we are writing to provide you with information about recent events that have occurred at SDSU. On Tuesday, May 6, San Diego State University concluded a year-long investigation that resulted in the arrest of SDSU students and others suspected of selling drugs.

The SDSU students who were arrested have been placed on interim suspension and prohibited from being on campus grounds pending completion of a University Administration Review required to protect their due process rights. If the initial findings are upheld, the students will be expelled from the University. Those living in University-managed housing have been evicted for violating the California Student Conduct Code.

The safety and health of our students is our number one priority. Students cannot learn or benefit from their college experience unless they are safe and healthy, and we are committed to encouraging that first and foremost. San Diego State is determined to remove people from our community who have placed our students at risk, and to see that they are turned over to the criminal justice system.

You are encouraged to read an article that appeared in the May 7th edition of the San Diego Union-Tribune that provides more detailed information on the events that took place. In addition, we recommend you read an editorial in the May 8th edition of the San Diego Union-Tribune that provides commentary and perspective on the events that took place. San Diego State has received near universal praise from students, parents, alumni, law enforcement officials, and the media for undertaking this investigation.

SDSU will continue to do what is necessary - through both education and enforcement - to encourage our students to make the responsible choices to ensure the health and safety of our campus community.

You can find additional information on the investigation at SDSU POLICE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES INVESTIGATION. Please do not hesitate to contact the SDSU Office of Admissions at (619) 594-6336 if you have any questions.

Sandra Cook, Ph.D.
Executive Director of Enrollment Services
