That's an interesting technique. I've got some going with root nodes coming out about an inch above the soil, and I wish I had room to throw some more mix in. However I also noticed a dramatic difference between the five seeds I planted in two-cup pots and the eight I planted in one-cup pots. The 2-cuppers seemed to take off much more. (some pics in an earlier thread of mine) Not sure if it was soil depth (is there a tap root?), coincidence, or what. I think I will try your idea out. I definitely won't start out in small pots like last time, if I can avoid it.

Hope they're coming along.
