I should clarify.

There was no "shopping around." This is incredibly out of character for the both of us.

I've known this girl for a few years as an acquaintance, but had never really talked until a few weeks ago. Still, given that nothing is private in high school, and the fact that I knew many people that DID know her better than me, I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is not characteristic behavior for her.

About 3 months ago, we talked for a bit, exchanged numbers, and said we should hang out some time, but for some reason it just didn't happen. Then, a few weeks ago, I'm looking through my phone and see her number. On a whim, I send her a text asking if she wants to chill next weekend. Neither of us had any intention of any romantic involvement, but over the course of the one day we hung out that weekend, we discovered that we had a lot in common. Like, able-to-finish-each-other's-sentences a lot. We just mesh perfectly. Nothing happened that day, but in the few times we've been together since then, we got even closer, until what happened on Saturday.

And I should note: she'd been with her boyfriend for two years before this. On and off for a while, but it's not like she has trouble holding down a relationship.

Yes, it's a lot of 17 year old drama, but we've spent about 24 hours together total, and I can talk to her more easily than anyone else I've ever met. Ever. Pretty much the same for her. It's not like this was a random hookup at a party.
