im not trying to call you dumb, lame, a noob, or anything negative. being able to have your own opinion is what makes things fun. however im just curious how much effort youve put towards truly hearing/interperting videotape. i agree it is reptetive. but i feel the repetiveness adds to the song. it does carry the same melody/tune/piano throughout the whole song, however it SLOWLY builds more and more powerful. i admit when i first got this album, I loved the hell out of it, and when the last song, videotape, came on I heard it more as a slow, sort of boring lead out to a great album. however after multiple listens/disecting lyrics regardless of how slow and repetive it may be the power and emotion is certainly there.
"no matter what happens now you shouldnt be afraid because i know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen" put in context with the basis of the rest of the song that line is VERY powerful. I can only hope when I die I can honestly say such a thing. Being that you think the rest of the album rocks if you truly havent digested what "Videotape" is conveying, esp in context with messages throughout the rest of the album, i do encourage you to listen to the lyrics and form your opinion around them rather than the repetive piano notes. if you already have and still dislike the song, more power to ya, glad to hear ya dig the rest of In Rainbows.
