I would suggest being careful when you run your dog on cement cause, just like you and me, it's not built to run on cement. You need pads on your foot, it probably does too. he's better off being run in grass, etc. Gauge your dog's pace, watch if he's getting tired, etc. Build his stamina up slowly, then gradually bike a little faster and a little longer. Your dog can easily run 5 to 7 miles with you, no problem. And, watch how hot it is outside.
And, he might run ahead of you when you slow down, just cause he thinks you're going to stop. He wants to keep going. He's having fun. I'll bet if you slow down for a while, and just keep going at that pace, nad keep doing this, he'll learn that you aren't quitting, and learning that you are actually "mixing the pace up". After a while, he'll get used to the "run", to the differences in pace, etc.
I guess i would also say don't listen to anyone on Yahooka. What do we know about dogs and biking? I wouldn't trust most of what you hear, unfortunately. Lots of people who don't know what they are talking about giving you their OPINIONS. Look the info up on the Internet, somewhere. But, anybody who says just walk your dog, that isn't going to help him/her.

true ^^^^^^^^ what he said about the running part anywayz, i grew up raising Austrailian Shepards (i had 5 of them as a child, into my teens) they instinctively need to 'herd' something, usually ranchers use them on the farm...but they are GREAT companions...and they love to run at full speed..., i had one, never on a leash, but she had access to the garage via the backyard, she was the most loving, kindest animal on earth, untill you threatened me or my family, they are good body guards..my dad has 2 FULL GROWN purebred German Shepards, like the police dogs, they are huge, and smart as a whip...being disabled now, i could use one for protection, either that or my glock 9mm, but that gun usually puts you in jail if not used for legitamate self defense...
