This reply may be biased 'cause I like you, but I think you're in the right direction. You see that the time to move on has been presented, and the next step would clearly be teh new hottie. The fact that you had an extremely favorable opportunity with said girl and didn't take it is enough of a feat--most guys either will not or cannot do the same.
