I'm confused as to the point of all this... It just seems like more political pandering to me.
The "they said..." of most discussions on this subject is really of little concern to me. As verk said, "why do i care what the democrats are saying?" I don't care, that doesn't mean I don't or won't listen, but I certainly don't care what their "arbitrary" evaluations and speculations are. When I take those quantifications in hand and think about the reality of the situation in Iraq I would be better off with toilet paper because at least that has a use. Unfortunately it's not quite efficient at wiping this particular kind of shit away....
Summed up simply all these benchmarks represent to me is someone's desperate attempt to quantify and attribute as "positive" the dynamic motion of Iraq. It's like watching a kid run around with a butterfly net trying to catch the wind.
Discussions like this, for me, are disheartening... Even if the propaganda being discussed is designed to achieve the opposite.
