murdering large mammals in particular is inhumane, period.
they feel pain when being shot to death...
killing the natural predators in the first place to justify killing the deer for the sake of population control is pretty weak too. its just an endless cycle of killing things and making excuses for it, when its really just humans totally fucking up the environment in every way and making shitty excuses and rationalizations so they don't feel as bad. you might say that eating a wild creature is morally better than eating a factory farmed creature but that is still just murdering animals and eating them, and if everyone hunted wild animals there would be no wild animals period (aside from the fact that they are severely depleted already because of humans), so that is no better, the only real morally superior option is to ease your burden on the planet, stop being a destroyer and make the simple but substantial choice to not eat meat
but yea... i speared a pregnant spiny lobster once and it made me feel pretty bad, killing shit is fucked up
