One of the major reasons that Jung broke with Frued was due inpart to his obsesive ideas of the Father/Daughter realationship. His daughter Anna, who was also a psychoanalist, broke with her father's ideas, because of sexual infatuation. although she did go on to study the ego, and developed ideas in child psychology. Frued said we stop developing at age 6. Most of his patients were sexually abused women, whom he developed his theories on, and most of them were just case studies, Frued never really proved anything. He was a pioneer for sure. He found the land were the resources could be drawn, but he was no miner of the catalyst he created. Mostly Frued is good for what he did to make people draw differnt conclusions.Frued's conclusions were based on studying the 'sick', while Jung's ideas revolved around finding out what makes a person stay well, by studying healthy individuals. In my opinion that too is a better method of study. If I was paying a doctor who told me he learned everything he knew about health from sick people, then I might scratch my head alittle and wonder. It's like looking at the sinner to see what helps people be better people, instead of just looking to the good for wisdom on goodness. Know what I'm saying?
If a doctor stood on a stage today and talked about using strict Fruedian methods they would be laughed off the stage. Jung's is still highly respected, and doesn't have the ethics problems to deal with.
There aren't clinics out there practicing his methods, plain and simple. That speaks for itself.
My personal favourite approach in psycology is Narrative Theropy.
