mid grade weed isn't usually in nug form and if it is it's still fucking middle grade aka not the worst but not the best. change up "nugs" with dank or kind bud or whatever you call it. if you want to get technical the non tastey, but still in "nug" or "bud" form, i refer to as beasters(B grade bud for further definition

Lol@Midwest slang. Like you said it's all regional because of styles of slang and carrying available qualities of weed.
Either way I would say do expiriments in really small batches from varying recipes found on the net, and probably start from above mentioned ratios. It's probably the only way to get perfect for your available weed.
Or you can just visit me and we can get some premade cannabutter from the club
