That "gateway drug" theory does make a good argument, as more often than not, it is true, many heavy drug users started from marijuana. But, the only reason it could be considered a gateway drug is because marijuana is illegal. I think that if marijuana were legal, there would be less marijuana users that make the choice to try harder drugs (meth, cocaine, etc..) (and im not speaking statistically)
