could someone please help me with a question, should i cut the big leaves off my plants to allow more light to the buds,or do these leaves feed the buds to make them grow.

my friend said you should cut any leaves off that are bigger then the palm of your hand, he calls them sucker leaves and they are drawing energy and nutirients from the plant that the buds need to produse bigger more potent bud. i have also heard you should never cut off the leaves because they produse vital sugars for bud maturity.

so could someone please explaine to me whats right and whats wrong thanks in advance
