Photo Contest?

Anyone up for it?

We pick the theme for the photo through a poll for the first run and then at the end of the week we have another poll to declare the winner. The winner then decides the topic for the next week.

I put this up to a poll.

thats the thing. because of ease of use, it allows any random dingus with $100 the chance to take a bunch of snapshots and upload that shit in seconds. digital sucks.

because people get the impression that taking snapshots in an extremely dumbed down user friendly way counts as art.

the threads still a good idea, i was just pointing something out.

edit: and not all digital sucks, but imho, most does. im not a huge fan of digital manipulation either, whether it be blatant crap in ps or making the digital photo look 'better' after it was taken without any manual action at all.

i agree, but i'd add it only sucks when, like SSD said, people are taking snapshots in dumbed down user friendly ways, claiming that as art.

I also love digital photography as a component and/or starting point to other works of art, i.e. drawing and painting.

regardless, i really like the idea of a photo contest

so youre telling me having a full on manual dslr camera is somehow less of an art than film? you do realize that most to practically all professional photographers and artists now use digital..

I dont understand why you have a problem with anyone being able to take photos, are you scared of people being able to take better photos than you without spending as much money?
