I think it would be a great idea to make one thread for all the youtube links to dubai and bulding projects there..all in one place.

These structures and the place itself are the coolest things to watch while tokin.... its like some fantasy land that is rising out of the desert. defying the laws of gravity and physics and finance and islam.

a fucking ski slope indoors? in 120F heat? The Palm island with its fronds of luxury homes all connected by emission free monorails to the city and the airport.

... also if u have links to videos or documentaries about dubai and the palm and the other engineering project there in torrent form, please post those links as well.

I have a whole bunch of such things, links to follow

add some of your own if you know of any that arent listed !

art and architecture have far more in common than any other forum on here...

i did put some thought into my choice of forum dear sir, perhaps u should suggest which forum would better suit it?

a waste, the people that bought properties there are investors and hardly anyone lives there right now.

^on the other hand tho, the homes that sold for 1 mil pre construction are now being re-sold for 5 million.

when u think about it, if ur european or asian and u dont really have fear of being a terrorist target like americans might, i could see dubai being a huge tourist destination.....its beautiful, and will get more so as the desert gets watered and more green spaces come into view.

and the palm island is the smallest of the 3 palm islands that are going to be built- and its already completely sold out- i think they have all 3 islands almost completely sold out even tho the last ones arent going to be done for 4 years.... plus after the palms, there is also a huge islamic cresecent shaped island thats going to be a big waterfront high rise island....something like 100 skyscrapers on 4 blocks just on this island alone....

its truly insane if u watch that first vid i posted to see how many skyscrapers they are building....somethin g like 10-20 on each island, a few dozen on the waterfront, and like 500 new ones across mainland dubai - and these are all multi billion dolalr towers.... its truly a city the size of chicago or ny just rising in a few years time....

anyway.... heres a cool satelite pic i found of the palm under construction.

i seriously love this place, i might just have to go for a visit....

Both sets of pics you posted work fine.

It's cool, but it's really tacky. It's about on-par with the disney castle in that sense, imo.
