I knew a dude that had mad skills, he made me a few really cool shirts. Always hoped to learn from him, too bad he got narced on when he had 50 Lbs in his house. Fucking low life motherfucking rattail wearing Jason Queen snitched him out to save his own ass.

let me know how that kit works, Ive seen it before. Im sure it comes down moreso to knowing the knots to tie , technique and what not moreso than the materials used. The materials used will just enhance the end product, ie vividness, color fade etc. Soda ash probably helps in that area as well. but thats just a pure guess.

Dyes For Tie-Dyeing
Dharma is fantastic. Fiber reactive dyes will give you the best results. Teeny Tiny Tie-Dye Kit Hope that helps. Good luck. |

From what I can see it looks really good dude. My monitor is really dark so the second one I can barely see, but the top pics looks real nice.

Thats a slick tye dye, I know of a pretty cool cheap tye-dye technique that I bet you won't see anywhere else.
Get a black shirt or any dark colored shirt, Do casual tie die techniques(rubber bands and shit). Then use bleach as the die(do this outside please and not near any ammonia). Let it air-dry a bit then wash that shit. Looks funkyyy, some hippy i met called is "Antie dye".

"Soda ash changes the pH of the fiber-reactive dye and cellulose fiber so that the dye reacts with the fiber, making a permanent connection that holds the dye to the fiber. It actually activates the fiber molecules so that they can chemically attack the dye. (It can also be used with silk, but not other protein fibers such as wool.) "
basically, it helps the color hold to the fabric also.. "soda ash will not make all purpose dye, such as Rit® or Tintex®, permanent on the fabric. Instead, you must either use a washfast dye such as Procion MX dye, which does require soda ash, or use a commercial cationic fixative in order to make all-purpose dye acceptably washfast, so it does not bleed in the laundry forever." Ive never heard of that second thing before, and in my experience with tie dye using rit, soda ash always SEEMED to make the colors stay more vibrant after washing and such. but that could just be a placebo effect? haha FAQ: What is soda ash, and what's it used for in dyeing? for basically anything you'd ever want to know about soda ash lol
