Question: Does anyone know how to strategically desaturate an image? I just realized (after seeing my daughter's pic blown up) that there's still a lot of her face that's colored...I wanted to desaturate everything but the cake on her face and her eye color. Is there an easier way of doing this which doesn't result in hours of sitting there and doing it with the sponge?

Use the lasso tool cut out the parts of the image you;d like to keep in colour (copy).then open a new layer(and paste).

Then desaturate the background image :]

vola!

damn...I can't believe I was too stupid to think of that. It's a good idea. Still, see...if you look at the cake, it's hard to cut it out evently. The magic lasso makes very rigid cuts so I'd have to sit there for an hour lassoing the cake instead of desaturating it. I knew I shouldn't have dropped out of Graphics Design so soon.
