Photoshop for Dummies, available in every decent library.

If you can't read books, there are plenty of tutorials all over the net.
Here's one to start with: http://www.good-tutorials.com/

IMO the best way to get used to a software is to play around with it.

Just fiddle around with the buttons.. and it will come with practice. Thats how i learned to use almost every program on the computer.
